Audioslave- Audioslave

Audioslave was formed in 2001 when Zack de la Rocha left Rage Against the Machine, and Chris Cornell (former of Soundgarden) replaced la Rocha, and the band officially changed to Audioslave. Their First Album (self-titled) has a significantly different style to today's traditional music.

1.) Cochise- A very good opening song, when it was first released to the public it recieved heavy air play. This song has possibly the best guitar playing on the whole album, short yet effective lyrics.

2.) Show Me How To Live- This is where the singer starts to truly use his voice and varies in his singing styles throughout the song. This song lacks a decent guitar solo but is replaced with more singing, which personally i prefer, making this a good song.

3.) Gasoline- A song that many people can relate to, this song is about breaking free and gettin away from the stress of day to day life, the song does not have very many words but the vocalist uses his skills to stretch out the song to an effective and brilliant end.

4.) What You Are- A song about a difficult relationship of demand and love. The song has excellent backing guitar and bass, with powerful lyrics that really hit you and make you think. With one of the most powerful and effective endings on the album, this song will leave you yearning for more and there are still plenty great songs on their way....

5.) Like A Stone- Another love song about how love can give everlasting patience. The song holds more of a drum and bass effect with the guitar taking a step back, until it's excellent solo kicks in, and as the bass continues on, this is really song you can tap your feet to. The singing is once again phenominal!

6.)Set It Off- The most upbeat track of the lot, with a very rock song type effect, The guitaring is constant and briliant and the singing style once again varies, going from excellent to amazing. The quality is excellent throughout the song and it is one of the best on the album.

7.) Shadow Of Sun- A slow started with a beautiful guitar solo, but i think the guitar quality degrades quite rapidly from the start, the singing easily makes up for this and brings another classic song with excellent backing form drums and bass. The solo in this song is not one of their best and can get rather repetitive.

8.)I Am The Highway- slowest and most beautiful song with beautifil lyrics to match. the instruments give a backing effect which cannot be matched, possibly the most sensual song of the decade.

9.) Exploder- A song about the injustices of the world such as wrongful arrest and mental issues (depression), not a particularly cheerful song but a good one all the same, the singer works his voice and the instruments are again powerful backing but lacking effect usage of the instruments.

10.)Hypnotize- This song's guitar, bass and drums remind me a lot of the old stylings of Rage Against The Machine But the singing comes into it's own element and wipes he floor with Rage Against the machine.

11.)Bring 'Em Back Alive- An extremely Bass strong start, with guitar varying and bass remaining strong throughout, The singing is powerful and is about different things such as just falling short of your dreams and insanity. My personal favourite song on the album, i could listen to this song for hours straight.

12.) Light My Way- Back to the love songs we go...This song sings about the love for a woman that cant be broken and and is so strong. The guitar solo's return and come back with effect and have been well missed in previous songs where they were lacking.

13.)Getaway Car- This song is about an obsessive love, that the singer wishes to get away from. Another sensual and excellent song with a powerful 80's type guitar solo. Not as powerful as 'I Am The Highway' but an excellent song all the same.

14.)The Last Remaining Light- A rather depressive song to end with but a perfect song to finish the album with, It seems to be talking about doomsday but i am not really saure with his song. The Guitar, bass and Drums are constant throughout the song with the same type of effect. The words are amazing and a great overall song.

This Album is a masterpiece and a favourite album of mine. I recommend to all, Excellent songs, Beautifil lyrics and powerful instrumentals. A great album and i hope Audioslave do many more like it.

thanks for reading my Op!
