I bought this album after listening to cochise, which was a fantastic debut single!!
The album did spawn some good work, but it was never commercially accepted (In the UK anyways).
With singles like;
Cochise- 10/10, Like a Stone- 8/10 Show me how to live- 7/10
it was obvious that they had the talent, passion & experience to do wonderful things!
However, may have failed to really capture what the listener was hoping for.
I think we can all honestly say we liked RATM or Soundgarden at some point during our lives.
It always frustrated me the fact that Zach never sung on any of the RATM songs, however, his words were meaningful & passionate & very, very powerful!
With Soundgarden you hade a mixture of everything! Spoonman, Black Hole Sun etc.
To put Chris Cornell in the fold with Tom Morello should have created more fireworks, as I listen to the album now & I get bored with it easily!
Don't get me wrong, I love Audioslave & initially I would have rated the album a strong 8 or 9 out of 10, but now it would be closer to a 6.
I would suggest this album for fans of RATM, Soundgarden & Chris Cornells solo stuff.
It is a strong record, but it is not a masterpiece! I'm looking forward to their next record.
