Tenuous link there <hehe>. August and Everything After was made at a time where the biggest rock bands in the world were all hard rock acts, such as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stone Temple Pilots. With their cross between folk and alternative rock they created a niche for themselves and huge success followed. This album (one of the biggest sellers of the nineties in America) is driven by several tracks, the fabulous "Mr. Jones", an amazing song and one of the freshest and most original rock tracks of the last ten years; the soul gripping "Round Here", and "Anna Begins". Other tracks on the album like "Time and Time again", "A murder of one", "Ghost Train" and "Raining In Baltimore" all follow on seamlessly. It's a very slow and mellow album, which is a welcome change of pace from all the hardcore, grunge albums that were making the rounds at the time. The album still sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released and would be a welcome addition to any CD collection.

Advantages: Beautiful lyrics, beautiful melodies. Gets right under your skin and into your heart. Disadvantages: Can become sullen and monotone for those who don't like slowpaced songs.

Advantages: Great songs, great to sing to, great to play to and rocks version of easy listening. Disadvantages: A bit dark and depressed in places but moreover suffering from a lack of warmth, but only in the recording.
