I realise it is Winter, and for many people the prospect of eating ice cream in the coldest season of the year is a strange concept, but our family is one who enjoy ice cream at any time of the year. Although we own an ice cream maker and often concoct our own home made ice creams, we also enjoy shop bought luxury ice creams, and are always keen to try out new flavours.
This weekend saw us visiting our local farm shop, who stock an extensive range of home made jams, chutneys, bread, cakes, and dairy produce. The freezer displayed a range of ice creams, made by Farmer Bill, a name not familiar to me at all.
Each ice cream is packaged in a one litre circular waxed carton, with the markings of a Fresian cow around the whole container, no doubt to convey to the consumer that the ice cream is going to be notoriously creamy ...

Advantages: Luxurious ice cream Disadvantages: Only available locally
It is no secret that I am a big fan of luxury ice creams, and although we do make our own home made varieties, a visit to our local farm shop ensures that I always come home with at least two containers of Farmer Bills luxury concoctions.
Farmer Bills have a farm in Colne Engaine, situated on the borders of Suffolk and Essex. All of their ice cream is made using cream and milk from their herd of Fresian cows, and each variety is named after one of the herd. The farm also has open days during the Summer, and for a small fee, it is possible to go and watch the cows being milked and also to watch the ice cream manufacture.
Unfortunately I have not seen Farmer Bills for sale anywhere other than our local farm shop, but I would imagine that if you reside in the Suffolk or Essex area, there will be a shop close buy from which you can ...
