...have not always been an Avenged Sevenfold fan, I heard the first few albums and was not impressed. They were good at what they did, which at that point was metalcore - it however was not to my taste. It was only with their release of City of Evil that I was amazed, suddenly this band that used to be stuck in dropped D chugging away to screaming vocals were throwing in screaming solos, powerful melodic vocals and even moving string sections. ...standard metal song, almost like Avenged Sevenfold trying to be Metallica, but not a bad song. After this, the album loses some of its appeal. I can let pass one song on the album which is standard fare of metal, but when most of the album is made up of mediocre songs then its much harder to appreciate the music. Advantages: Brilliant vocals and guitars

Yet again A7X change their style and for me it gets better and better each time. Of all their albums, this is the most commercial, but it is still a top class album. 1. Critical Acclaim 9/10 (first single) This is a banging tune which starts off slow with organs and then really kicks in. A great first single. 2. Almost Easy 7/10 (second single) Of all the songs on the album, this was one of the ones i was least keen on. Shadows vocals just don't ...

Scream 8/10 A very good song, though not as heavy as "Critical Acclaim" or "Almost Easy" There is a lot of softer guitar riffs in this song, as well as a catchy chorus. 4. Afterlife 10/10 (Possible future single) Such an upbeat song, and also a song that everyone can chant to. This is a song that would be fabulous to see live. In my opinion, Avenged Sevenfold's music provides 'something for everyone'. A hybrid of genres are present upon this CD, these include Metal, Country and there are even some elements of a Brass Band within some tracks.
