Advantages: Ska-P sublime music for any ska, punk or rock lovers Disadvantages: none this album is flawless
...Ska-P is a play on the Spanish word for escape and also stands for Ska Punk which is the style of music that this Spanish band from Madrid play so brilliantly. They are closely associated with the working classes and are a heavily political band. Many of there songs comment on topics such as anti fascism, anti capitalism, animal rights, the hypocrisy of religion and there belief in legalising canabis. Even if you do not agree with any of these views it is still refreshing to listen to bands who are happy in this homogenous world to stand up and speak from the heart.
Few groups have lept into my heart on first listening, Belle And Sebastian and the little known Spearmint would be two and Ska-P would be the third.None ofthese bands are similar. I do not speak Spanish at all but this in no way hinders my enjoyment of this music...

Advantages: Superb Spanish ska Disadvantages: I prefer their album, El Vals Del Obrero
...I first came across Ska-P when I saw them live at the San Fermin Bull-running festival in Pamplona in 1997. Their energetic performance was one of the highlights of the festival and so I went and bought their first 2 albums, Ska-P & El Vals Del Obrero. At that time I didn't speak a word of Spanish and didn't have much idea about Spanish life and culture. However, through listening to their music I started to pick up some Spanish and it also gave me an insight into Spanish culture.
QUE CORRA LA VOZ is their 4th album and in my opinion it is their 2nd best behind EL VALS DEL OBRERO. Stand out tracks are CONSUMO GUSTO which is about the perils of this consumer society that we live in, McDOLLAR which is about a certain fast food chain and INSENSIBILIDAD which is about neglected pets bought as presents for christmas.
My overall...

Advantages: Some of the best ska classics of all time! Disadvantages: The price
...I was recommended this c.d by a friend who grew up in the height of the ska era! Not being a die hard fan myself I wasn't that fussed, it cost £15.99 and I thought the price was a bit too expensive but I was pleasantly surpised at how much I liked it and that deep down I had heard some of the songs before. A compilation with the likes of Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Specials, Fun Boy Three, Madness, The Kinks and Desmond Decker made for a very entertaining few hours of music. With two of The Jams most famous tracks performed by Paul Weller live were an extra little bonus. 40 songs from some of the greatest ever living musicians make up this essential cd to have for any music collection and even though it was a bit on the expensive side it gave me great hours of easy listening!
This C.D is well worth the buy! I'd recommend anyone...
