the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band.
After the liberation of France, the band was due to fly to Paris on the 16th December, but he wanted to get there early to make preparations for the concerts. On the 15th December 1944, Glenn Miller, and Norman Baesell, together with their pilot, took off to Paris from an airfield near Bedford. They were never seen again. Five days later, an official bulletin was issued to say that Major Glenn Miller was "missing in flight, presumed to be lost". On Christmas Eve that year the world learned that Glenn Miller was dead.
The band continued with the tour and played their last concert in Le Havre.

More recently, as the world of education began to swallow me whole as it has so many teachers, I've contented myself with collecting CDs ...
Advantages: Loud, a scream of rage, intelligent, proper punk Disadvantages: Bad language, screamed vocals
Universally loved because of their explosive live show and their punk ideals, Gallows have been described as being a "rough-arsed howl of rage", and this reissue of their debut album shows that indeed they are.
Vicious guitar riffs and screamed vocals are not new, though they do it well and the lyrics are confrontational and angry.
Formed in Watford in early 2005, the quintet's members cut their teeth playing in various local punk bands before coming together as Gallows. Building a reputation on the back of their live work, this album was originally released in September last year and got rave reviews. They did a UK headline tour in March and then impressed at SXSW in Texas.
