The Beatles, Cream, The Who and of course the Jimi Hendrix Experience among them. And as such you will find many of these releases, with many of these sessions still continuing today, although to a mcuh lesser extent. The recording environment that was provided for the group, often small studios designed for orchestral use, meant that they needed to record the songs live in the studio, with only very basic overdubs possible. But from this you get some interesting takes on songs, where they fall halfway between live and studio versions, taking some of the more improvised exciting elements of the former, but with the tight arrangement of the latter. The sessions themselves were a chance for the group to rework their older material, preview new ones or simply provide their own takes on classic tracks by other artists. The BBBC Sessions - The Beautiful South

Advantages: Has some of their best known hits,has some special extras not found on other albums.
Disadvantages: There are sometimes too many versions of the same song, which I got bored with easily.

'The BBC Sessions' is a compilation album by The Beautiful South. Released in 2007, it is a good mixture of all their greatest hits; 'Sail this ship alone', Song for whoever', Old red eyes is back', 'perfect 10', 'dumb' and my personal favourite 'a little time'. This is actually a really good 2 disc special to have in your collection if you are a fan of the band as there are some really nice treats like the bands own version of 'use it up wear it out'! The unusual thing about this album is that it has 4 different versions of 'You keep it all in' and 2 versions of 'Old red eyes is back'. This is really good if you are a fan of those particular songs and enjoy hearing slightly different versions of each, but I must admit that the charm of this wore off pretty quickly for me and I ended up skipping these tracks after a while ...

Overkill-Motorhead

Advantages: Rocky,thrashy,energetic,b est of all their albums ever!Each song rocks more than the last!
Disadvantages: None really, unless you dont like the genre of music.

So who hasn't got a fitted Topshop/Topman style Motorhead Tee nowadays? Hardly rock n roll to is it? I wonder how many of those guys actually listen to Motorhead? I doubt many which is a real shame because albums like this (Overkill) are a real jem amongst the crap rock that wont stand the test of time. The band are made up of Lemmy (bass and vocals), "Fast" Eddie Clarke (guitar), and "Philthy Animal" Taylor (drums) . This is Motörhead's second album and it showed a massive progression for the band. The chnage paid off because fans consider this to be their best album (and they have had tons)-superceding the Ace of Spaces! Vocals on this album are gruff and heavy and you really can pick Lemmy's voice out from millions of others. Shame that people only seem to know The Ace Of Spades as this band have produced so many other great ...
