obstinately proud salesman of goods of dodgy quality and even dodgier legality. Humiliating his dopey brother, whining grandfather and leech-like uncle, he insisted that "this time next year we'll be millionaires". What made Only Fools and Horses so appealing was the very real affection that writer John Sullivan felt for all these characters and, with stories that were often as moving as they were hilarious, the show was both a celebration and critique of Thatcherite Britain.Much of the first five series is on video, but for those who feel embarrassed travelling with a TV and video recorder on their lap, their scripts now exist in this more portable volume. Without visuals and vocals, they may not make many converts, but highlights abound, such as Rodney's date with a policewoman and a slasher movie send-up, and the book ends with the moving episode where Del Boy turns down a job in Australia.Mildly let down by a rather meagre two-page Trotter to English dictionary, this is nevertheless a treat. "Pas de calais" as Del would say. --Stephen Portlock

Advantages: Great story, lots of humour Disadvantages: Sad ending
He was one of our most legendary disc jockeys, not one of those DJ's that rabbled on insistently about things that are absolutely no interest to the listener, but a disc jockey that put the music first.
JohnPeel was if anything quite a reserved character, down to earth & very endearing. I loved his dry wit & although some of the music he played on his late night radio shows left a lot to be desired, he won the hearts & minds of so many listeners over the years.
There are many bands & individual artists that would never have made it in the music world if it hadn't been for JohnPeel, and that includes some household names. He was the latter day 'X' factor all in one, send it your tape recordings & if he thought it had potential it was played on his late night show. From there, who knows? Some were lucky, but many got there one & only ...
Advantages: Great Djs, Good music, Funny Disadvantages: Run by BBC
Hi today i will be reviewing BBCRadio1.
I usually listen to Radio1 at night as its something to do while trying to get to sleep (not a bad thing!). I personally enjoy the Chris Moyles Show and Scott Mills mainly because I find Chris funny and Scott has some great features from the old angry pizza man wind up to the new Whats Becky's Forté
which features Becky the Assistant Producer trying to find that talent she excels at.
The Chris Moyles show is different than most other shows on Radio1 in that its not just the presenter that gets involved the whole team have a great time and in turn help you to get ready for whatever your going to.
During the day there is Jo Whiley, Sarah Cox and Edith Bowman. I personally don't listen to these just because I'm usually busy. For the few times I have listened to them they do film ...

Advantages: it's the Delgados Disadvantages: May not be easy to find. its the Delgados so will never be a million seller
The late great JohnPeel (RIP) certainly had a really good taste in music. As well as nominating Teenage Kicks by the Undertones as his favourtie song ever (it's high up in my top ten) he championed one of my favorurite bands the Delgados (also RIP since they split up in 2005). During a ten year period they recorded no less than seven sessions comprising of twenty nine tracks in total for JohnPeel's late night show on Radio1. These sessions have been compiled into a comprehensive double CD. I doubt the Delgados will ever have a best of (and certainly not a greatest hits as this criminally underacted, wonderful band never dented the top 40. Thus in an absence of a best of this is the nearest thing to a comprehensive retrospective of their career.
For those that don't know the Delgados were a Scottish quartet who were instrumental in ...
