Advantages: New tracks to hear from the acoustic artist Disadvantages: fairly short with some same songs as the album "O"
...Damien Rice has become an under-rated acoustic star since the release of his debut album "O". Many people say that "O" is the greatest album that they have ever purchased, and so fans weren't disappointed when Damien Rice released his album "B-Sides". Since "B-Sides" was released many fans have been confused as to whether some of the songs on "B-Sides" are infact, even better than some of the songs on "O".
Damien Rice has worked with the band that he usually works with both live and that he worked with when creating "O". They are:
Damien Rice: Vocals, guitars, and songwriter
Lisa Hannigan: Vocals
Tomo: Drums
Vyvienne Long: Cello
Shane Fitzsimons: Bass
also featured on this album who was not featured on "O" is Nickie Geddes who plays the Cello on the track "Woman like a Man (Live unplugged)"
"B-Sides" is definitely a great...

Advantages: some new material, a nice change, maintains consistency Disadvantages: possible to hear alot previously without the b sides album
...having become a massive damien rice fan many years ago i was excited about the release of some new material after a long time. The tracks are good however doesnt offer much more for the eager fans. The songs are without doubt still brilliant, however, songs like the professor and lonelily were quite easy to get hold of previously either from singles or websites. I know this the idea of a B-sides album, but B-side albums are often bought by avid fans rather than those wanting to see what his music is like. therefore, i presume that many who would purchase this B-sides 'album' would also have the songs from prior purchases of singles etc.
There are 8 tracks on this album.
1. The Professor & La Fille Danse [Live At Cornucopia] - This opening track is one of the best on the album. It has never been recorded in a studio before...

Advantages: A few really good tracks, some De La Soul tunes you have never heard before Disadvantages: The album has no flow, a few weak remixes
...will want to run out and get a fade. Yeah, it is worth a rip too.
Trouble in the Water (DJ Honda/ De La Soul) 3:46~ This joint is off DJ Honda's release 1998 hII. This carries a more modern rap feel thanks to DJ Honda's deeply felt groove. You have De La reminiscing about their childhood on Long Island here. DJ Honda takes what sounds like a lounge organ warming up and new school mixes to reinforce De La's lyrics. It has a smooth feel to it. I dig it for how personal it is. It feels raw yet polished, if that is possible at the same time. Trouble in the Water is not overly produced and stays loose. This is De La Soul at its most mature. It has ears; I would rip this one too.
Piles and Piles of Demo Tapes Bi-Da Miles (Conley's Decision) 4:06~ This is B-side instrumental from the 1991 release De La Soul is Dead. I am not a fan...
