Advantages: Eclectic mic Disadvantages: There are other songs from the series that I wish were on it and as it is only 55mins long probably could have been
...The Sopranos television series was one of the few television highpoints of the last few years. The series is clever and unique as is this soundtrack.
The uniqueness of this CD is apparant when reading the tracklisting, how many compilations would have Bod Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Nick Lowe and the Eurythmics on the same CD. while some people may think this eclectic mix a weakness in a compilation, I preferred it. the reason being listening to this CD was an education, before this i had never heard of Alabama 3 or R. L. Burnside, however, listening to their tracks on this compilation ("Woke up this morning" and "It's bad you know" respectively) it encouraged me to make an effort to listen to more of their stuff.
This soundtrack is dark and brooding, perfectly mirroring the television series. The onlt problem with this compilation...

...The soundtrack for the show that has to be my current favourite matched up to what I expected from it. It has the best tracks from the series in order to capture the different mood swings of the programme. It sweeps from the bouncy, up-lifting "I Quit" by Hepburn (not to my taste) to the dark and moody tracks like "It Doesn't Matter" by Alison Krauss and Union State. Tracks such as "It Doesn't Matter", "Lucky" and "Virgin State of Mind" are instant reminders of the show and they balance out this soundtrack very nicely indeed. "I Already Met You" is one you will love or hate and for me the voice is just too irritating personally. Overall it is a fair album with no major criticisms as it combines the better known with the currently unfound in an emotional twister....

Advantages: A good mix, relaxing/chilling music, good mix of artists Disadvantages: some artists are not as well known as others on the album
...**SPOILER**
Excellent soundtrack counterpart to an excellent movie. If you loved the tracks on the movie then get the album. The tracks compliment the feelings and mood in the movie with the theme tune 'Every You, Every Me' by Placebo... it's so gothic and dark in it's sound with a hint of isolation. Gorgeous.
The ending, when Kathryn's reign of terror collapses, is accentuated by The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony. Again: gorgeous.
Here's the playlist:
1. Every You, Every Me - Placebo (single mix)
2. Praise You - Fatboy Slim (radio edit)
3. Coffee And TV - Blur
4. Bedroom Dancing - Day One (first recording)
5. Colorblind - Counting Crows
6. Ordinary Life - Kristen Barry
7. Comin' Up From Behind - Marcy Playground
8. Secretly - Skunk Anansie
9. This Love - Craig Armstrong/Elizabeth Fraser
10. You Could Make A Killing - Aimee Mann...
