discussing the release of their ninth (yes, NINTH!) album, another sure-fire number 1 a staggering eight years after their first. Barely breaking sweat at any point over their career, slow and steady wins the race it seems--and song after song after song of just-so pro-forma arm-waving heartache fits that bill. Flip them over and you'll find guarantees tattooed to their spines--and you can't knock them for sticking to the rule-sheet like good boy scouts, can you? Of course they're boys no longer, not that you should expect amendments owing to that fact. Their sound has been afforded maturity in recent years and we get a smooth continuation of that on Back Home, particularly evident on "I'm Already There" as they sing earnestly of missing their kids when away from home as emotions swell courtesy of climbing orchestration and cracking voices. Their voices cradle each other in their famously supportive Motown-aping style throughout, but particularly on "Have You Ever" as Shane steps ahead and aims beyond Ronan Keating's heights with his keen lead. The album's token upbeat song "The Easy Way" almost surges into N-Sync territory with a perky horn section, but your pulse needn't be alarmed. There are no immediately obvious additions to their greatest hits canon (perhaps the Michael Buble penned "Home", given time), but Back Home will reinforce whatever it is you think about Westlife--guaranteed. --James Berry
Advantages: 2 good tracks! Disadvantages: The ten bad tracks!
...me with the Westlife album Back home.
My daughter was of the opinion that due to my fairly open mind when it comes to music and the fact that she likes this album so much that there would be plenty of interest in it for me too, I have to say that she was wrong.
Take out the single once done so well by Michael Buble and there was not much else I could claim to like about the whole experience, finding it drab, boring and all a bit similar for my ... ...10 - I do - Back to Westlife basics with this one, another ballad but a fairly decent one with good lyrics. 5/10
11 - Pictures in my head - Not sure what to make of this track other than to say that it is very poor and not of the standards you would expect from a group of this standing. 2/10
12 - You Must Have Had a Broken Heart - I certainly had a broken heart after yet another drab ballad, the only thing I could say in this songs favour is that ...

Advantages: Westlife, great songs and voices Disadvantages: A few week links and very ballard orientated
...Irish men. It is titled Back Home.
There are 12 tracks on this CD:-
1 - Home - This is a beautiful ballard from the group which you will have probably have heard on the radio or advertised on the TV when the adverts for this album appears. It has a lovely tune and is very easy listening.
2 - Us against the world - This is another ballard but has a different edge to it from their usual ballards. The tune is very catchy and the song has great words. ... ...10 - I Do - Back to the ballards! This is another typical Westlife ballard but nothin bad to say about it, there are some lovely words and a lovely soft melody.
11 - Pictures in my head - Yes another upbeat song! Great song with really good words but the tune is a bit predictable and nothing really stands out in this song for me.
12 - You Must Have Had a Broken Heart - We end the album on, yes you guessed it, a ballard! This is yet another typical ...

Advantages: 12 great songs, brilliant lyrics, the music is really good Disadvantages: not enough of Kian and Nicky singing on their own
...tempo songs. It takes us back to the start of Westlife.
The Album:
1) Home - Brilliant version of the Michael Buble classic. The mixture of Harmonies between Mark and Shane is unbelievable. The emotion they show in this song is unreal and brings a tear to your eye when you are away from home and you really want to go back.
2) Us Against the World starts of with Nicky singing "Us Against the World" over and over again but it gains tempo throughout ... ...the Love Album but with back home I really love its originality. Its a change from the cover versions. I know the covered Michael Buble's home but they did, as Louis Walsh would say "made it their own". I really am well impressed with it and in the 6 or 7 hours I have this album I think I have listened to it at least 4 times.
For all you westlife fans get this album. You wont be disappointed. It is really good.

Advantages: Fantastic music, great voices, good price, readily available Disadvantages: none
...the first song on album, Back Home. As mentioned before, this song was originally sung by Michael Buble. The song was co-wrote by Michael Buble along with two others and has featured in the film, The Wedding Date. However, Westlife have changed their version slightly with the lyrical arrangement. Westlife shot the music video for this song mainly in Los Angeles, America whilst some was filmed in the UK. This song fits perfectly with Westlife's typical ... ...meaning. This is my favourite song in the album.

Advantages: It's a Westlife Album! New tracks Disadvantages: Some covers on the album
Another great album of Westlife's. The songs are great, very catchy although it took about 3 listens before I really liked the album.
There are 3 cover songs this album. Home, of course, is a Michael Buble song and they do a great version of it, but I personally still prefer the original.
I'm Already There is an American country song, I don't know who sings it originally, but this is an awesome version of it. If nothing else, Westlife do covers very well! But I still prefer their original tracks!
The rest of the album is fantastic, You Must Have Had A Broken Heart, the last track, would rival Maybe Tomorrow(last track on ...
