...Love him or hate him the name Elton John is one that we have all heard of at some time in our life. He has made a multitude of songs spanning over thirty years and has performed with artists all over the world.His record sales worldwide have topped the 100 million mark and out of the 30 plus albums he has made no less than 7 have been consecutive number ones in the usa. This particular double cd has all the hallmarks of an artist of great standing and his music speaks volumes.His partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin is put together in 2 cd\'s of 30 songs which seem to have their very own genre.Its hard to put it in a catagory but when listened to i see it as mood music.It has ups and downs and depending on how you feel will determine which songs you choose. ...Yes, they've become turgid, repetitive c**p of late and their latest offering 'The Long Road' is about as close to the edge of reality as you will get, but there was a time back in 2001 when Nickelback rocked the singles charts and produced an album of pure class that out-sold anything that anyone had to offer for roughly the next 6 months. That album was 'Silver Side Up', the album that spawned 'How You Remind Me', a track that got to the top of the singles charts and refused to budge.....to anyone. It was without doubt a class act upon the first few listens, but have to admit that after the 1000th listen it started to die on me. I'm not a Nickelback fan, in fact i'm in the group that can no longer stand them, but believe that the genius of 'Silver Side Up' does deserve respect for it's ambition and overall result. ...LCD Soundsystem's main man is James Murphy who is the creative and conceptual force behind LCD Soundsystem but he also has a collective of friends/session musicians who help create his music. James Murphy is also the co-owner of LCD Soundsystems label (DFA, with his partner being Tim Goldsworthy) Another fact that may surprise you is this very British sounding sound of LCD Soundsystem is created by an American. Sound of Silver is the follow up album to the debut album called LCD Soundsystem. The debut was and is a phenomenal album and having that as the standard would be enough to create pressure on the follow up which will inevitably be compared to the ground breaking debut.
