I keep the CD propped up next to my computer so I can look at him ....aawwww But enough of that- what about the music? This CD is a greatest hits record, and that's what it delivers. ...For years I have had a total love of stage musicals.. There is something about a good stage musical that really brings the best out in me! if there is a good stage musical I will attend,, a good musical followed off by supper in a resteraunt is one of my favourite nights out! This is one i had the oppertunity to see back in 1979 as a leaving school present from my parents, so means a lot to me. The show and soundtrack is set in Argentina in the 1940's, and is well reperesented throughout. Last year as I was walking around Leeds on an outing I came accross a CD stall selling both new and used CDs,, I had been looking round for the earlier edition of Evita staring one of my heart throbs from back them, David Essex and his co star Elaine Paige... In the mid 1990's I just totally gave up hope of ever finding this recording either... Read review

Advantages: Adds superbly to the film

...Here is a rehash of this review which I wrote ages ago and to be quite honest is only renewed because the film is coming out and everyone should have this album. I have had this album for years - I knew David Essex when he was perfroming in his parent's shed and I knew the War of the Worlds when it was a minor dispute over fishing rights in the Adriatic. Enjoy Few would have believed that David Essex's contribution to the future wisdom of the ages would be anything as monmental as a musical version of H.G.Wells' - War of the Worlds. After the catastrophe that was a 1950s B-movie of the book this story needed something to impress its power on the world again. And in the 1970s it had just that. The entire story of War of the Worlds which had sent America into a panic, (not dissimilar to the situation now), in the 1930s was back... Read review
