I have been a fan of Christina Aguilera since her stripped album. Her singing abilities and song writing amaze me. This album is better and stronger than before.
This album is inspired by jazz and has a 30’s 40’s feel. I think it is inspiring to see a young singer doing something different. In my opinion the pop music out right now is getting dull.
This is a 2 disc album, I will talk you through the songs

Disc 1

Intro (Back to Basics) /// this is just an into just explaining that she is going back to basics

Makes me want to Pray /// this song has so much energy and emotion. Beautiful lyrics and vocals

Back in the Day /// this song is a bit more pop rather than jazz, it’s catchy.

Ain't no other man /// I’m sure you’ve all heard this while out in the clubs. It was the first single to be released, defiantly one of the best on the album
Understand ///A ballad which reminds me a lot of her early years (I turn to you etc)

Slow Down Baby ///I’m not sure I like this song too much, it is probably the worst on the album in my opinion but the lyrics are meaningful

Oh Mother /// I heard this before I heard the album and it made me cry. On her stripped album Christina sang ‘I’m okay’ about her abuse as a child and this song is a carry on from that really. Very emotional

F.U.S.S /// Stand for F*** You Scott Scorch. I am not sure what went on but I think he is someone who helped her on her stripped album but obviously not this one. She uses song titles in this, it’s quite clever.

On Our Way /// Good song here with a good melody

Still Dirrty /// this song is basically saying that she is still dirty. Even though she has a new image she’s the same girl.

Here to stay /// Fab vocals, great tune

Thank You /// Here she has recorded messages from her fans, and played them over a backing track with her singing the chorus.

Disc 2

Enter the Circus /// this is an introduction to the second disc, with a circus theme

Welcome ///This follows on from the introduction; it is like she is welcoming you to the show.

Candy man /// I love this song and I love the video to this song. This is so catchy, although I played it a bit too much before it got released then when it was released I got a little bored of it.

Nasty Naughty Boy /// a cute song with dirty lyrics
I Got Trouble /// the way this song has been recorded is very good. Sounds like an old muffed microphone. Like being in the 20’s

Hurt /// Very sad beautiful song. Linda Perry wrote this song and it is amazing

Mercy on Me /// this song proves what a great singer Christina is with an amazing vocal range

Save me from myself /// this song is so simple and beautiful, defiantly one of my favourites

The Right Man ///This is about her wedding and not having her dad at her wedding. It’s a beautiful song

you can tell by listening to this album that a lot of time and effort has been put into it. The 2nd cd can be put into the computer to show some images and a video.
