Ministry of sound back to the old skool is a CD which I borrowed from a friend at work, bearing in mind he is only eighteen I didn't expect him to come up with this.
The CD cover is bright green with a bid yellow acid smiley on the front with the words back to the old skool written in white under the smiley.
Disc one is yellow and disc two is green making them easy to tell apart, im not sure which disc is my favourite so I shall start with the obvious one first. This is also quite strange for me I am so fussy when it comes to music I usually only like one out of the two CD's or maybe only a few songs on a particular disc, that's why I decided to write a review on this one, so bear with me and feel free to push me in the right direction if I make a total mess, as this will be the first music review I have ever done.
Disc one__
N-Trance- Set You Free This was published in 1995 and I quite like the beginning of this one as it starts with the sound of rain, its quite a repetitive song and think I wore it out years ago and tend to skip this one.
M.A.R.S- Pump Up The Volume This was published in 1987, wow that long ago. It's a great tune to just bob around to and sounds great up loud for obvious reasons.
Snap-the power Ive got the power, what a classic, id love to have a FAT car and have it blasting out as I drive down the road, but I have grown out of that stage now and just want to give it to my boss as his surname is Power!!
It's a great feel good song and usually reminds me that I have the power to feel good and achieve anything I put my mind to. This was published in 1990.
Shamen-Move Any Mountain Not so keen on this one but it does bring back memories of trying to learn the words, no great meaning to this song for me but I do listen to it without skipping to the next track. This was published in 1996.
Adamski-Killer This was published in 1990 and is quite a calming song that tells you to live your life the way you wanna live and also has a feel good factor to me.
Prodigy-Charlie BRING BACK CHARLIE Charlie says "Always tell your mummy before you go off somewhere!!" What a great message and was it a program on the telly too? I love this song, prodigy are great, this was published in 1991 and is still going strong.
Moby-Go Published in1991 I was not too keen on this back then but now it has seemed to grow on me, I feel its quite a calm song with lots of ooh ahh's in it.
Candi Station-You've Got The Love This was great at the time but again I wore it out years ago, a great powerful song, you've got the love I need to see me through. Published in1991.
Felix-Don't You Want Me Baby Don't you want me don't you want me don't you want me baby, is about all is says but the tune makes up for it, its quite uplifting. This one was published in 1992
A Guy Called Gerald-Voodoo Ray Im not sure when this one was published the seem to have a miss print in the cover, but a good song all the same, not many lyrics and quite a slow song.
Bomb The Bass-Beat Dis Again a good track published in 1987, sounds a bit like thunderbirds at the beginning, and not too many lyric's.
808 State-Pacific State I find this very relaxing with he sounds of birds all the way through. Published in 1989
SL2-On A Ragga Tip Ba day ba day a one la da day? Can any one translate, still it's a good catchy tune published in 1992.
N-Joi-Anthem True love can be hard to find!! Another catchy tune with not many lyrics.
Strings Of Life-Rhythm is Rhythm A great catchy funky tune published in 1997.
Stereo MC's-Connected I like Stereo MC's and this must be one of the most well known. Published in1992
Eric B & Rakim-Paid in full This is a journey into sound! Its quite like a rap really but that was the first thing that sprang to mind. Published in1987.
Kicks Like A Mule- The Bouncer If your names not down your not coming in, you must remember this one, not tonight your not coming in, it reminds me of being at a fairground, I think it is because they used to play it a lot there is no resemblance to fairground music. Published in 2001.
Shades Of Rhythm-Sweet Sensation This is quite repetitive and usually skip this one, I cant tell you when it was published, its not in the cover.
Awesome 3-Don't Go Published in 1992 with quite a catchy tune but not many lyrics, "I can not bear to see you leave me, im begging you don't go. But the actual tune makes up for it.
Disc two__
S Express-Theme To S Express Seven ways to love, yeah!! This is a great feel good song published in 1988 but a bit repetitive.
Black Box-Ride On Time I love this tune, I cant sing at all but I have to holler this one at the top of my voice whenever I hear it, it makes me feel great. Published in 1989.
Stone roses-fools Gold I do believe this is one of the tracks trainspotting had, a very relaxing, funky chilled tune. Published in1989.
Nomad-I Wanna Give You Devotion Lovely track with a huge feel good factor for me, very funky and a lot of strong vocals, it also reminds me of East Seventeen with the rapping bits. Published in 1990.
Inner City-Good Life Another one that reminds me of being at a fairground, a great classic, another I whale along to in the privacy of my house, and have a good old dance to.
C&C Music Factory-Gonna Make You Sweat Everybody dance now, great stuff, a bit on the slow side these days I want to wind it up a bit, published in1990.
Beats International-Dub Be Good To Me Quite a good funky song that usually reminds me that im crazy, published in1990
Yazz & The Plastic Population-The Only Way is up Im sure this one speaks for itself, Cracking tune with a feel good factor and I can sing along to this one. Bring back Yazz!! Published in 1988.
Cola Boy-Seven Ways To Love A but repetitive but still catchy, published in1991
Urban Cookie Collective-The Key, the Secret Not such a good one any more, I had it on record and wore it out years ago, published in 2001.
Bizarre Inc-Playing With Knives Gotta get up gotta feel good!! I love this one, again it's the fairground that springs to mind, a very happy chirpy song published in 1991.
Strike-You Sure Do Another good track but im afraid I wore it out and have to skip this one
Strike-You Sure Do Im not so keen on this one but I do listen to I occasionally, published in 1994.
Adventures Of Stevie V-Dirty Cash Another one that I wore out, Still a good track published in1989.
Jaydee-Plastic Dreams A catchy tune with no lyrics that I can think of, I do like it. Published in1992
Altern 8-Active 8 Top one nice one get sorted!! One to bob around to, quite funky and very catchy, published in1991
Praga Khan-Injected with a poison A great old classic here one of my favourites, quite upbeat and brings back loads of memories as a child. Published in2001.
Lisa Lisa& Cult Jam-Let The Beat Hit Em This one is a little slower than the rest quite funky chilled. Published in1991.
Liquid-Sweet Harmony Great tune along with the memories, quite fast and funky. Published in1992.
808 State-Cubik This is a weird one, it kind of reminds me a bit of dr. who in places. Published in1991.
Rhythm on the loose-Break Of Dawn Im not sure this one is the best one to end the CD with as I don't really think much to it and cant say I remember it at all, published in1991.
So there you have it, a very good CD with a range of my old classics on. If you fancy a trip down memory lane go and get yourself a copy, you wont be disappointed. This was £14.99 from WHSmiths but im sure its cheaper now.
Thanks for reading Crazykurst
