Album Notes: Voodoo Glow Skulls: Frank (vocals); Eddie (guitar, background vocals); Jorge (bass, background vocals); Joey (saxophone); Joe (trumpet); Brodie (trombone); Jerry "Strombo" (drums, percussion). Additional Personnel: Dave Mello (clarinet); Jim Goodwin (Mellotron, organ, walkie talkie). Recorded at Paramount Studios, Hollywood, California. BAILE DE LOS LOCOS, the second Epitaph release from ska-punk veterans the Voodoo Glow Skulls, is one of the band's most focused expressions of its funky, horn-and-guitar-fueled musical stew. The sound suggests the Mighty Mighty Bosstones grafted over a wall of more aggressive solid-state guitar reminiscent of such West Coast brethren as Suicidal Tendencies. But for all the roiling guitars and churning drums on BAILE DE LOS LOCOS, the concentration of infectious horn hooks maintains an upbeat, innocuous party-like vibe. BAILE DE LOS LOCOS sports such adolescent-sounding titles as "Freeballin'" and "Elephantitis." Three of the songs are sung in Spanish, and there's even a cover of "Feliz Navidad." Frank Casillas growls his vocals throughout. On "The Kids Will Have to Play," he proudly proclaims that "we've been this way since 1988." And BAILE DE LOS LOCOS proves that the party isn't about to end anytime soon for the Voodoo Glow Skulls.
Advantages: Amazing Skacore Disadvantages: More of the same?
...This is the latest offering from prestigious American Skacore legends VoodooGlowSkulls. The band have been around for some time now, but on this new album they show no signs of slowing down and are still creating the amazing music they always were. There are 14 tracks on display here and none will disappoint. It may be argued by some that the band have produced greater albums in the past, but when you are a band with a string of amazing albums then it's always going to be hard to live up to people's expectations. Personally I think the band have done well here and come up with another fine album of Skacore greatness. I have always been a huge fan of the band and this album certainly doesn't rock my faith in any way, shape, or form.
This is a truly amazing album and I actually can't name a track on the CD that I don't like. When I...

Advantages: Smells nice, cheap Disadvantages: a bit heavy for daytime wear
...Everyone in my family gets either Avon perfume or aftershave for each birthday and Christmas without fail, so it's no surprise that my mam got me a bottle of Avon True Glow perfume this year.
I'll be honest, a lot of the Avon perfumes are not to my taste, and I find it irritating that you can't test them before using them - I know they do scented pages, but they don't seem very accurate to me!
When I took this out of the box I wasn't overly keen on the design of the bottle. It comes in a glass bottle that has an orangey tone to it, with the lid being more yellowy, and is an unusual wavy shape. I think the idea is that it looks like a flame.
The bottle is not the worst I have seen from Avon, but personally I prefer something a bit prettier and more feminine, and also I found that because of the unusual shape the lid was quite...

...Despite touring with the bands like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the Offspring(who are excellent live) the Voodoo Glo Skulls have never seemed to manage to reach the level of their peers. Its hardly down to laziness either, with 'Symbolic' being their sixth album in seven years.
Always up for a party, the Californian ska-punk group throw together a wild mix of dub, funk, cheesy guitar solos and hip hop and, as ever it doesnt take long to get into the swing of things. However the mad cap horn section are let loose and ensures a case of everything going radio rental, with 'El Mas Chingon' featuring Reverend Horton Heat, providing a full on skank and rock and roll fest.
Unfortunately, they lose marks on account of a mediocre version of 'I shot the sheriff'...don't even go there!!...
