release his seventh solo studio album (and ninthsolo release), The Ballad Of John Henry, on February 22nd 2009. Thealbum, released on the Provogue label features twelve tracks, splitbetween Bonamassa originals and selections by songwriters includingAilene Bullock, Tom Waits and Tony Joe White. The album continuesBonamassa's fruitful association with producer Kevin Shirley (LedZeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Crowes), and showcases both his famedguitar heroics and what an accomplished and versatile vocalist he'sbecome. Starting his professional music career at the age of 12, achild prodigy, Joe first opened shows for blues legend BB King.Since then, Joe has continued to play with BB King as well as otherlegends along the way, but still accredits BB for giving him his"Big Break". The Ballad Of John Henry coincides with JoeBonamassa's twentieth year as a professional musician - Reflectingon the new album, Bonamassa says, "I feel this is my strongest workto date". The album's lead and title track, 'The Ballad Of JohnHenry', is a muscular blues rocker in homage to the American iconwho Bonamassa calls "the ultimate working class hero". He wasinspired to write it while touring through the US and seeing thingsheaded in what he felt was the wrong direction. "It used to be,"says Bonamassa," there was dignity to being a middle class worker, making an honest living. My mom and my dad are my heroes, workingtheir whole life at meaningful jobs that add to society. We needmore of those heroes these days, and that's what this song means tome. The Ballad Of John Henry's covers include versions of Tony JoeWhite's 'As The Crow Flies', Tom Waits' 'Jockey Full Of Bourbon',Ailene Bullock's 'Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter', AnthonyNewley/Leslie Bricusse's 'Feelin' Good' and the Sam Brown tune'Stop!' by Greg Sutton/Bruce Brody. Bonamassa is again backed bythe stellar players Carmine Rojas (bass) and Anton Fig, BogieBowles (both on drums) as well as Rick Melick (keyboards) andBlondie Chaplin (rhythm guitar). The album is also Bonamassa'sfirst to feature horns, courtesy of Lee Thornburg and DavidWoodford
Advantages: A sublime album of high points and even higher points Disadvantages: The cassette version needs to be turned over in some players
JohnHenry - those two words send a rush of pleasure down my spinal chord (sic) just by existing.
This was their first album with a full band supporting them, hence the name JohnHenry, its an American fable about a railroad worker that fought to stop machines taking over the man-powered work (they used to use a drum machine, you see?) Aaaaanyway, the album is a delight from end to end (and back again). I bought the album, saw the live tour, got the t-shirt and still I crave more.
To try and catagorise TMBG would be wrong, but this is primarally a rock/folk/indie/ragga/funk/metal/hip-hop/ska/synth album with a few other influences thrown in.
The new bass player is the mighty Tony Menomi (apologies for the spelling Tony) who used to play with Pere Ubu and was very nice to us after the show. His influence also shows, but the John ...
Advantages: Suction is brilliant. Disadvantages: Looks are a little industrial.

This review is on the very robust Henry Numatic model HVR 200. You will know it as soon as you see it as it has a smiley face, and comes in four colours, red green blue & yellow, well now they have added another to the range - PINK!!! Technically this one is called HETTY, but it is identical otherwise.
The shape is cylindrical, but not laid down, it is upright, like an oil drum, and has a buffer ring surrounding it, which does not mark walls. It is mounted on castors, and so is easy to move about.
As for the suction, I can only say it is brilliant, the cable is wound up neatly in it's own drum, all tools are there, the machine itself is light enough to be carried up the stairs, what more could you want in a cleaner?
There is of course a down side, but not much of one, for instance it is not easy to vacuum the stairs as ...
Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: Nothing specific
?Signature? was released in 2009 and dropped as the eighth album from the R&B singer Joe Thomas (although known mononymously as Joe). The crooner first hit it big with the new Jack Swing jam ?I?m In Luv? back in 1993 and was known mostly for his such as ?Stutter?, ?All The Things? and ?I Wanna Know? through the nineties and into the ?00s. Though mainstream attention has lessened, he still has continued to churn out new material and this 2009 album helped him to show that he hasn?t lost what he brought during the key R&B turning point during the nineties.
1. ?Majic?
We get the album off to a great start here as you find that you get a track from the singer where he brings forward a song that dropped as the lead single to the album and in spite of the fact that it didn?t really get too much exposure (or perform too well when it came to ...
