Not the most essential collection
Kirsty MacColl's life was nothing but tragic - her death even moreso. This 'Best Of' compliation comes many years after the Croydon songstress' passing in Mexico in 2000 and hopes to rekindle the country's love for Miss MacColl. Sadly, it falls short of anything spectacular and hardly does anything to showcase the gems in her back catalogue.
The sad thing about Kirsty MacColl is that she is most renowned for her work on other people's songs and not for the quality of her own unique songwriting talent. In recent years Kirsty has become as much a part of Christmas as turkey or tinsel thanks to her guest appearance on "Fairytale of New York" with The Pogues. I've been absolutely obsessed (unashamedly) with Kirsty MacColl for about two years now. I have most of her albums and have heard pretty much all of her songs. However I felt something was missing to my vast collection! Of course, the videos! I was distraught that the official Kirsty MacColl website could not offer me a solution so I resigned myself to watching for Kirsty vids on the Sky music channels! However all that changed last year with the fantastic news that From Croydon To Cuba: The Videos was to be released in the Spring! Indeed it was and I have been the proud owner of this DVD since April! I love it so much and can't stop watching it!

'The Ballad Hits' by Roxette is a compilation of some of the duo's greatest ever tracks. Roxette is essentially a group of two from Sweden, named Marie and Per. They were huge in the late 1980s and throughout the whole of the 1990s. At the turn of the millenium, their popularity levelled out, and since Marie's surgery to remove a brain tumour in 2003, they have paled behind the scenes somewhat.
This album was released early 2003 in the UK, and contains such tracks as 'Listen To Your Heart' and their smash hit 'It Must Have Been Love'. There are 15 tracks in all, most were seen in their album 'Don't Bore Us - Get To The Chorus', but this ballad album does reveal a few new songs.
