...The idea of this album is to show off Mariah Carey's 12 number one singles hence the name #1's. I think this album is a superb compilation album; it features most of her singles that have topped the charts. When I brought this album it cost me £12.99. Here are a few big hits off this album that made it big in the US Without You, Hero, Fantasy and My All. I have found her more up to date songs not to be so good like her album 'Rainbow' has more up to date songs on it so I haven't gone out and brought it. She hasn't done a song for ages that I really like I actually think the last song I really likes was 'Fantasy' back in 1996/1997. I'd recommend this album to any Mariah Carey fan.... Read review

Advantages: Great debut album
Disadvantages: not to everyone's taste

...I was never really a Mariah Carey fan to begin with, I used to wonder what all the fuss was about and it wasn't until I heard Vision of Love on the radio a while ago that I decided to go and buy her debut cd years after it had been released. The album is an 11 track, a mix of ballards and dance, and that amazing voice that everone must know by now. Wether you like her or not you can't deny how talented she is. The album begins with Vision of love which was also the debut single, It's my favourite song of hers, a ballard which shows off her incredible voice at it's best. There's got to be away is a more upbeat song, it's not the kind of thing you'd usually hear Mariah singing about and the vocals may go a little over the top in places but it's still a good enough song. ...Mariah Carey was born in Long Island, NY on 27th March 1970 to an Irish-American mother and Venezuelan-America father and she is the third child. As a school girl she began singing R&B in NY with Ben Margulies who was her songwriter and best friend and as time went on singing soul, gospel and pop it showed of her amazing voice range that we all know and love today. Before Carey hit the big time with 'VISION OF LOVE' which was massive NO.1 hit in USA she was a struggling waitress untill a friend of her's handed in a demo to Sony Music who were impressed and signed her to Columbia Records!. In her first year she picked up 2 Grammy awards for Best female and Best new act.
