Bangers And Mash Vol.2 - DJ MK

Advantages: Impressive DJ'ing.
Disadvantages: Tracklisting a bit strange.

...Kiss FM london first brought my attention to these two belgian DJ'S, who also have their own Indie band, Soulwax. 2 Many DJ'S are the kings of the "MASH-UP" - thats DJ terminology for a bootleg or two or more tracks fused together to make one. Steven and David Dewaele are behind 2 Many DJ's and it took them a staggering 36 months to get this album licensed, and it is not surprising they have taken 46 tracks, crossing genres to make one hour long CD that will have you dancing and scratching your head and asking your pals to "name that tune" 2 Many DJ's have taken eclecticism and given it thier own unique spin, the album is a must have and was one of the best selling albums of 2002. Advantages: It makes you laugh
Disadvantages: Not for those who hate hearing scratching.

...DJ Yoda is a British DJ specialised in turntablism (meaning: he scratches records with great dexterity and flair). This is the second helping of the "How to cut and paste" serie and it's a wonderful mix of Hip Hop (DJ Format, Wu Tang Clan, Beatnuts...) , Jazz (Billie Holiday like you've never heard her before!), old TV theme tunes (A Team, obscure 50s commercials...), 80s Pop and Reggae. Everything is put together like an Old School mixtape with wacky scratching and plenty of funny samples thrown in for good measure. It is very clever and for those who know a bit or 2 about scratching, the skills are amazing! It's not the type of CD you'll put on for a party.
