I read the opinion of yummy87 on this album and convinced that it was a nice one, I took it.
Great cd to listen to, when you feel down. I just realized that today as it’s not one of the best days for me. I really miss the lifestyle of Greece. That different approach in life that the Greeks have...
Anyway…I am listening to this album now so it’s the best time to write an opinion on it.
The cover. If you can cope seeing this goddess to throwing away the make-up from her image, coming out with open, uncared, wounds, then this album will touch you.(‘Its made to touch you because is hand made, builted with human materials that have been gathered after the demolition of an old house, with hard work and endless hours of loneliness…’)
Who to buy it If you think that pain in non of your business and you don’t want to see how many different colors are coming out of Annie’s painted colourless lips, then this album is not for you. It’s only for everybody else. It’s for those who have been in love, who are in love,for those who have cried,have been betrayed, have been hearted...for those who have lived that is.
Why to buy it Very nice vocals and lyrics.How often do you find good ones?
I have to remind you Annie’s voice here. Unique voice who knows what is soul, who knows how cold the streets of the city are. That unique voice who knows how to light a fire in your hearts fireplace or the candle in the darkness. Do I sound a little bit sad?
Songs that I noticed ...It’s because I am listening ‘The Saddest Song I‘ve Got ‘. It’s the one of the best sad songs I have ever heard! It takes you to a different world.
‘Pavement Cracks’ in another one I like. ‘Oh God’, the beautiful ‘A Thousand Beautiful Things’, ’Bitter Pill’ and ‘Loneliness’.
Lyrics that I like ”Oh God Where are you now? Dear God? Oh How can I Survive? Will I make this drop, this dive? But if you hear me If you can see me... I know I can't be that strong 'Cause everything I ever did went wrong Everything I ever did went wrong Oh God Now where do I come in? Gone and broken everything So I hope You'll understand If someone needed a helping hand It must be now It must be now” (Have you heard Annie Lennox praying? You are going to hear her in this album. So nice...)
Overall opinion: Bare-Annie Lennox is an album that you are going to look for it as water in the desert the day that life will not treat you nicely and you want someone, a friend, on your side to sing with you. So if you are asking me : “shall I buy it?” I ‘ll say Yes because that day is always coming...
