Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), is best known for his ground-breaking and hugely influential music for ballet. Indeed, 'The Rite of Spring' or 'Le Sacre du Printemps' is perhaps the best example of Stravinsky's challenging and provocative interpretation of the 'Brave New World'.
'The Rite' was premiered in the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris (1913), and it all started well as a seemingly innocent bassoon melody floated out from the orchestral pit. What was to follow, however, was to shock and enrage the unprepared Parisian audience: pagan content, ritual sacrifice, wild choreography, savage and hugely unconventional music. This moment is a milestone in music history, and heralded (along with Schoenberg) a transformation in music: whilst once thought of as horrific, Stravinsky's music is now admired and is still perpetually ...

Stravinsky had, after all, been a pupil of the great Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, a composer of highly colourful music including Sheherazade and The Flight of the Bumblebee. And young Igor Stravinsky had been his most gifted student.
The choreography was by ...

After discovering the amazing offer on the Müller Light yoghurts at Asda a few weeks back, with their '12 for Ł3' deal, I took advantage of this great price on several occasions, which gave me the chance to sample my way through each yoghurt flavour they had available. After a mix of opinion and experiences, I have managed to conclude my most preferred flavour; which is none other than the marvellous Mandarin Müller Light option!

When I first decided to sit myself down with the Mandarin yoghurt after my sandwich, I wasn't sure what to expect; I had never tasted mandarins before. I imagined it tasted perhaps slightly like oranges, but that was basing it purely on the image of the segments which could be seen on the foil lid of the pot. The only way to find out if I was correct or not was to open it up and find out! As I pulled ...
