...Dookie
Green Day are made up of Billy Joe (Lyrics), Mike and Tre Cool. Dookie is their third album to be released, which managed to reach number two in the UK album charts, which was no surprise. It is a contreversial album, but it is absolutely great. This album managed to ensure that green day became a trademark band of the ninteties. This is a great album and I would recommend it to anyone. Track Listing: Burnout, Having A Blast, Chump, Longview, Welcome to Paradise, Pulling Teeth, BasketCase, She, Sassafaras Roots, When I come Around, Coming Clean, Emenius Sleepus, In the End, F.O.D, Hidden Track....

Advantages: Green Day at there finest Disadvantages: Bit short clocking in at about 35mins
...Thanks to Time of Your Life from 1997's Nimrod CD, Green Day and their singer/guitarist/writer Billie Joe Armstrong have belatedly gotten some respect. Billie Joe has matured a little but he has been making good music since the band broke through with Dookie.
The songs on Dookie aren't cerebral but eight million Dookie buyers weren't wrong. Dookie is filled with tight, exciting adrenaline filled rock. Billie Joe's guitar playing is pretty basic but strong and the band keeps the music moving at a great, energized pace. The lyrics are juvenile but Billie Joe simply expressed his audience's confusion about growing up and not knowing where you're going. The appeal of BasketCase, is also undeniable. Billie Joe's self described melodramatic whine about feeling like he's cracking up actually has a fun, self deprecating side and the music...

Advantages: It being sung by Green Day Disadvantages: not sure??
..."Minority" was the first single released by Green Day after a huge 3 years break. This meant that this single had to be a good single otherwise it would mean that their next singles would struggle to make the top 40 (well their territory is sort of mid 20's so it couldn't get much worse!)
This is by no meens a classic Greenday song but went in at No.18 in the UK chart meaning it was the 4th highest Green Day song, i think, behind BasketCase, Time of your life and something else!
It is not quite old school Green Day as it has a slightly lighter touch on the distortion pedal compared to songs such as 'Hitchin' a Ride' and 'BasketCase' but it was refreshing to see them bounce back with this energetic tune.
Encouraging people to break the mold and be different Billie Joe has an excellent idea for a song. It is a good representation...
