Great to listen too as well as party too!
Review of Hold Your Colour - Pendulum by
LordGryn
Advantages: Drum and Bass Album of the Year 2005 I'd say!
Disadvantages: 14 Tracks
...I read about this album on the internet the day before I was leaving the UK and I got it while in a rush to catch my flight at a virgin store at Gatwick airport, I was so excited about getting on the plane and listening to it as I had heard a few of the songs before!
There are so many hits on this album: some which you see on TV and others which you hear at clubs and on the radio, these include:
-Slam (entertaining music video!)
-Girl in the Fire (my fav track)
-Tarantula (Heavily played in clubs!)
-Hold your Colour
-Another Planet (which I think got track of the year)
Pendulum really showed their skills in this album as the songs are so technical and detailed not like typical drum and bass. I found that my friends who are not into drum and bass really enjoyed most of the songs on this CD.
But if you are a drum and bass fan...

Review of Hold Your Colour - Pendulum by
Holly89
Advantages: interesting tracks, nothing the same
Disadvantages: some songs with quite long intros, not too many vocals used in songs
...for somebody who has never been a great fan of drum and bass ive always dismissed pendulum as been another drum and bass cliche with tedious repitive songs and sets. This was until i picked up thier album 'hold your colour' and my opinions were quickly changed as i discovered there album was diffrent, filled with mainstream friendly hits and some interesting more experimental club tracks. the song that made the biggest impact was 'fasten your seatbelts' and 'another planet' as they were faced paced feel good tracks that you just cant listen to without wanting to move around. another that has stuck as one of my faves was hold your colour, with a completly diffrent pace to tracks like your fasten your seatbelt its more of a chilled track with alot more lyrics than thier other songs. pendulum together as a band display an amazing use...

Step away from the norm
Review of Bricolage - Amon Tobin by
andyyaris
Advantages: Excellent sound quailty, warm tones, relaxing
Disadvantages: none really
...In desperate need of some alternative types of music to rock/indie and something I could relax too I was recommended this by a friend. Apologies to any readers if I dont know the background to Amon Tobin, the album or the genre, it's just based on my repeating listening to this album.
Initially I was sceptical, but now I am a convert, this album is full of lovely warm tones, equally appealing at high and low volumes; it tends to give a different experience. I tend to listen to it when i am working or when i need to relax, of which the first few tracks are the best, its not the thing to get you jumping around the house. I'll try to explain some of the tracks.
Stoney Street - Slow paced, wonderful warm bass guitar line, with sax and string section
Easy Muffin - more synth and electro, similar slow pace, nice drums many layers coming...
