Advantages: Chilling, catchy and haunting all in one. Disadvantages: Not quite as subtle as later Williams works in places.
...While this wasn't John William's first score for a Spielberg film it was the first to gel with exquisite precision to the compelling images of the young director and cemented the double act that has been so successful ever since. The famous alternating bass notes become the very heartbeat of the shark as it stalks and closes in on it's prey.
Although in places not as subtle as later works such as ET or Schindlers List it is probably even more memorable thanks to it's various themes - Quint's catchy 'irish jig', the Souza like town parade theme, the haunting 'night search' and of course the unnerving main title. All in all a must have classic....

...An excellent German band who's debut album was remarkable and original. Since the early 1970's they have been one of tthe leading purveyors of so called Krautrock. But they were unique in the respect of blending Rock / Jazz and Ethnic styles. Especially Arabian.
Although based in Munich they did have a small underground following in the UK i believe when they toured here!

Bass and sax are particularly distnctive as is the guitar work..... the rhythm playing in particular is very outstanding. Vocals were german accented ,sung in English , but mostly they were an instrumental band.
Although this record is not there finest.....try the 'Live ' double for starters ( i think...

...In desperate need of some alternative types of music to rock/indie and something I could relax too I was recommended this by a friend. Apologies to any readers if I dont know the background to Amon Tobin, the album or the genre, it's just based on my repeating listening to this album.
Initially I was sceptical, but now I am a convert, this album is full of lovely warm tones, equally appealing at high and low volumes; it tends to give a different experience. I tend to listen to it when i am working or when i need to relax, of which the first few tracks are the best, its not the thing to get you jumping around the house. I'll try to explain some of the tracks.
Stoney Street - Slow paced, wonderful warm bass guitar line, with sax and string section
Easy Muffin - more synth and electro, similar slow pace, nice drums many layers coming...
