Advantages: Always consistent stuff from Motorhead Disadvantages: Few
...A charming title I'm sure you'll agree, but it does have more impact than "Illegitimate Offspring". Yes, it's another 'Head album from Lemmy and Co., and they have taken a step backwards musically after the (rather unjustified) criticism of "March or Die". Not that this is a bad thing, because I firmly believe that bands should stick to what they are good at, and Motorhead are good at fast and heavy rock 'n' roll.
First up is "On Your Feet or on You Knees" where Lemmy sings about "you humans". I always knew Mr. Kilminster was a bit strange, but I never knew he was from a different race as the rest of us!
"Death or Glory" treads a familiar ant-war theme, but when was the last time you heard a song with the word "Sturmbannfuhrer" in it? Makes you think.
"I am the Sword" brings us more violence, and "Born to Raise Hell" (yes, I know, I...

Advantages: A great window onto an institutional band Disadvantages: There is some dross amongst all the diamonds
...Back in 1980 when I was starting to listen to heavy rock with a more than healthy passion Motorhead were the loudest, dirtiest, ugliest band around and a dentists nightmare (until Shane McGowan came along that is) producing some of the harshest sounds around. What more recommendation could a growing youth need for liking a band? I can still hear my dad shouting at me to 'turn that sodding thing down!' Those were the days...
Motorhead began life in 1975 when Ian Kilminster (Lemmy), sacked from Hawkwind for 'doing the wrong drugs!', formed a band he initially wanted to call 'Bastard' but on advice from his manager, dropped the idea. Eventually he settled on 'Motorhead' which had been the title of the last song he had written for his former band. Initially he worked with Larry Wallis and Lucas Fox but it wasn't until these were...

Advantages: Motorhead, pure classic metal, fun to listen to Disadvantages: Possibly a bit outdated for today's younger metal fans
...EVERYBODY knows Motorhead. And I mean EVERYBODY. They are THAT big, and they were THAT influential. Lemmy is probably one of the most respected men in rock, and has been for the last thirty years: just as Motorhead have been one of the biggest names in rock for thrity years. So it's fitting then, that a good selection of their back catalogue, be available on one disc.
Opening track: "The Ace of Spades". My least favourite Motorhead track due to its being over-played, but by far, their most famous. So it goes without saying that this will be included on any Motorhead compilation. Suh a simple track, but gets such a great response. Sounds as good every time you hear it.
Other Motorhead classics included are: "Iron Fist", "I Got Mine", "Overkill", "Bomber" and "The Chase Is Better Than The Catch". They don't make 'em like this anymore...
