Advantages: You can order this album through the world-wide web Disadvantages: Not released in the States
...In recent years, a handful of savvy producers have taken it upon themselves to rediscover and record many of the forgotten soul and R&B singers, most of whom, despite getting on in years, remain in fine (and refined) voice. The latest such project is Brand New Classics, a new album by Ann Peebles, one of the finest of the Memphis soul singers of the 1970s (her distinctive phrasing was an influence on Al Green).
This disc will thrill older soul-music fans even as it effectively introduces Peebles to a new generation. Live retoolings of many of her greatest songs ("I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down," "I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home") - and a soaring adaptation of Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is" - are smartly navigated by a full band in semi-acoustic arrangements. Advantages: Has some of the best manics tracks Disadvantages: Album is quite short
...This album was release in 93 and is the second album from this Welsh band. This is quite a short album with only 10 tracks, but is still a good quality album. It has more of a rock sound than the last album as the guitars sound is more prominent than they have ever done and their lyrics are brilliant and well thought through as usual.
This was the third manics album I bought after Generation Terrorist and even though overall the length of this album is short, it makes up for that in the quality of the tracks. This is a great album to listen to and even non-manics fans would enjoy listening to this if they are into rock styled music.
The Track listing is:
1. Sleepflower
2. From Dispair To Where
3. La Tristessa Durera(Scream to a sigh)
4. Yourself
5. Life Becoming A Landslide
6. Drug Drug Druggy
7. Roses In The Hospital
8...

kfingleton
Advantages: Quality songwriting, inspired words Disadvantages: Certainly not original

It’s a pretty heavy track and quite simply deals with the affliction that is Gilles de Tourette syndrome, hence the wholesale use of the f-word. A lyrical quote – “I twich and turn while underneath / My contemporaries are so in control”.
Gold Against The Soul is a superb song technically with some great guitar work from James and the drums give the song a thumping heartbeat. This track is a sort of proto Design For Life in lyrical content. It is basically a song about the working classes, the Manics being one of the few self-proclaimed working class heroes to actually be working class. This is a sincere track with real significance for not just the band, but for people...
