General track info The tracks are set up in the same way throughout, with lead singer Jemina Pearl giving it her absolute all! Behind her is the three lads in the band Jamin Orrall on drums Jonas Stein on guitar and Nathan Vasquez on bass who realy are shunned into the shadows by Jemina's outstanding performances, but they make themselves known now and again with solos here and their and even a little bit of shouting now and again.
Okay so I am reviewing this as I hear it, it seems like the best way, all I can say these tracks kind of remind me of the the artic monkeys mixed with the zutons, I suppose at this point I should point out this album is very very punk as well...
Track info
1. Thresher's Flail As soon as this cd started I thought it was doing a cover of the Kaiser chiefs... and in a way this cd is kind of similar but with the obvious difference of a female vocalist. 2. Bunk Trunk Skunk Track 2 is a quick 1:28 album and is one of the punk links in the album; it's a repeated simple tune maybe a bit repetitive. 3. Bicycle Bicycle You Are My Bicycle This track reminds me of a prodigy (always outnumbered never outgunned) track and is progressive 4. Wildcat wildcat is more of an indie inspired track possibly linked to hard-fi not much more to say on this one 5. Adventure Adventure takes a massive step in the opposite direction linking this track as more of a pop genre, with light guitar and soft signing with much more bouncy lyrics and singing 6. Fuuuuuun like track 2 this is a short punk genre track 7. Stairway To Heaven Jonas Steins guitar playing is one of the main focus points on this track 8. Bog another track with humorous lyrics about fighting with a boyfriend... and then killing him. Nice and upbeat. 9. Girls On TV track starts with just the instruments and a quick bass solo, another nice blend of music genres. 10. We Will Vacation You Can Be My Parasol just like the other tracks 11. Let's Get Sandy (Big Problem) a quick 58 second track with humorous lyrics 12. October First Account a slower tempo than the other songs but fit s in perfectly 13. Love Your Shotgun garage rock 14. Fill My Pill garage rock 15. Ouch garage rock
Okay you get the general idea of the album (garage punk rock meets indie)
Be your own pet was formed in 2002 at the Nashville school of the arts, and is considered as garage rock from most listeners
Whats the best way to describe this cd I my opinion? Its like punk rock, mix that with a heave influence of indie and a lovely prodigy twist(the always outnumbered never outgunned album)and you get Be Your Own Pet
This album really is like a mix of punk rock and indie, at this point id really recommend this cd, I did not think I would enjoy this but im wrong im really enjoying this...
If your feeling a bit sceptical about this album at this point listen to it first before buying, music shops have ways for you to preview music, so do music shops online, just listen to a few snippets of tracks, you will be surprised, I definitely have been.
Ok so if you hate rock and punk don't get this cd, stay away from it!... If you don't mind it, then check this cd out its good, very good.
Tracks?
There is a lot, 15 in total and there all great and with that great mix of genres they seem to have and absolutely superb instrument playing and a girl with a very big set of lungs on her, its an album definitely worth checking out, don't let the cover art put you off.
