I was very excited to get it as I am a big fan of their latest album. I bought a re-issue of their independent release which was from 1995 The title is named so because it is a collection of their recordings ... ...recorded in a Garage on Beacon Street!
This album similar to the latest albums, have rock in it but in my view deals more with Ska influences and although sounding a bit rougher on the edges on some tracks, the album is amazing!
If you had the Don't Speak single, you'll notice one track on there called Greener Pastures which was a great track and this is the album where it came from. With Gwen Stefani on lead vocals, ... more
I only found out that No Doubt had other albums before Tragic Kingdom when browsing on Amazon.co.uk! I found out that there were two previous albums they being; No Doubt and The Beacon Street Collection! of what my review is about.

I was very excited to get it as I am a big fan of their latest album. I bought a re-issue of their independent release which was from 1995 The title is named so because it is a collection of their recordings which span 2 years! Some of the tracks were recorded in the south bay and the rest was recorded in a Garage on Beacon Street!
With Gwen Stefani on lead vocals, No Doubt can do no wrong as her voice is so distinctive and great. Another great track is the opener to the album Open The Gate. There is a song called Total Hate 95, which is a bit strange and seems a lot rocky great band though.
It is hard to pick out good songs as the album is 100% great I also really like Squeal and Snakes.
All I can say is if you like No Doubt's music, this album will not look out of place in your collection; this CD is just fantastic and was worth buying.
(If you're thinking of buying this album, I'd recommend you look on Amazon.co.uk as its there for a bargain price of £7.99 which comes to a total of £9.99 inc. p&p! You can get this album in HMV but it costed £15.99 when I last saw it!)
Advantages: Not commercialised poop...can i say that? ;-) Disadvantages:
...isn't a cheesy album. The Beacon Street Collection (I keep wanting to say "Bacon" Street! I'm odd like that.) is a collection of songs recorded over a period of two years, they say they had so many songs they felt the need to release some material between records. I'm certainly not complaining. If you are a fan of Ska music, or into pop/rock and are looking for something just a little bit different, then this album could be for you. Whether you're ...

Advantages: My Favourite Album Disadvantages: We're Still Waiting For another album...
This is one of my favourite NoDoubt albums, along with the singles collection. Every track has something different. From the acoustic sound of Greener Pastures (track 5) to the fast, ska feel of Squeal (track 9). This CD has something for everybody. Brought out in 1995, The BeaconStreetCollection has 10 tracks lasting over 40 minutes. Full of the phenomenal NoDoubt ska-punk we have come to expect, only this album has some slightly more mellow songs...
Track 1 - Open The Gate
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This track, Written by the whole band, and Gwens brother is 3:40 in length. The singing and the music, as we have come to expect is outstanding.
Track 2 - Blue In The Face
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is similar to Open the gate; not one of NoDoubts fastest, but still makes you want to skank. at 4:35, it is one ...
Advantages: Consisently excellent songs, original styles Disadvantages: A few weak songs
Greatest Hit?s album; the Singles 1992-2003.
But does it match the hype?
In a word, yes. The album blends releases from most of the band?s albums, including Tragic Kingdom, Return of Satan, the more recent Rock Steady and their debut NoDoubt, but not, oddly, The BeaconStreetCollection.
Songs:
1. Just a girl
2. Its My Life
3. Hey Baby
4. Bathwater
5. Sunday Morning
6. Hella Good
7. New
8. Underneath it All
9. Excuse Me Mr
10. Running
11. Spiderwebs
12. Simple Kind of Life
13. Don?t Speak
14. Ex-Girlfriend
15. Trapped in a Box
Bonus Tracks:
16. Girls Get the Bass in the Back (Hey Baby remix)
17. Underneath it all (Acoustic Live version)
The album opens with one of their most famous songs, the punky Just a Girl. The gorgeous repetitive opening riff skits about between Gwen?s mock-angry shouting. The feminist ...
Advantages: Brilliant albums has all of my favs on it Disadvantages: Only one new release
self released a B-side to Tragic Kingdom called BeaconStreetCollection, which was only available at the shows or in local record stores. No wonder I've never seen it about.
October 1995 Tragic Kingdom is finished and finally released. It shoots them into the charts and shoots them into the public eye.
NoDoubt goes on to release
RETURN OF SATURN in 2000 with big hits like Ex-Girlfriend and Simple kind of life.
ROCK STEADY in 2001 with big hits like Hey Baby and Hella Good
And finally the CD, I'm writing about, The Singles 1992-2003, which is basically just their greatest hits.
--INSIDE THE CD CASE--
There's all the lyrics to all 15 songs and there's an introduction about NoDoubt and an explanation about every song, which I think is a nice touch. The CD is silver like the front and back cover of the album. It's simple ...

Album Notes
No Doubt: Gwen Stefani (vocals); Tom Dumont (guitar); Eric Stefani (keyboards); Tony Kanal (bass); Adrian Young (drums). Additional personnel: Bradley (vocals); Eric Carpenter, Gerard Boisse (saxophone); Phil Jordan (trumpet); Gabe McNair (trombone). Engineers: Colin Mitchell, Ray Blair, Tom Dumont. Includes liner notes by No Doubt. THE BEACON STREET COLLECTION is No Doubt's sophomore release. Its ten tracks are the perfect prologue to their breakthrough album TRAGIC KINGDOM. On this album, No Doubt's sound is an amalgam of rock, hard-core and their own quirky spin on ska. One of the virtues of Gwen Stefani's guttural voice is the fact that it works well with any style No Doubt decides to use. A little more rocking than TRAGIC KINGDOM, THE BEACON STREET COLLECTION features a tasteful horn section and playful melodies that become instant sing-along hooks. No Doubt is now a household name. This reissue offers the opportunity to find out what made people want to bounce around to No Doubt's music before Stefani's bejeweled forehead became the totem of the skateboard generation.
