...Back in the 90's, there was a thing called grunge. If I mention the band 'Nirvana' to you, you'll know exactly who i'm talking about. Unfortunately for a lot of grunge acts back in the 90's who got shadowed by Nirvana, their talent was never seen. Some of these bands managed to drop the stereotype and sell some records. Candlebox was one of these bands who sold millions of records, but not many people have heard of them or can even remember them. Candlebox released this debut album in 1993 and achieved fame with their singles 'You', 'Change' and 'Far Behind' - still voted one of the best tracks of all time, to certain polls. It's a fantastic blend of good old fashioned rock and roll, blues and funk. ...Bauhaus - Kevin Haskins (drums), David Jay (bass), Peter Murphy (vocals) and Daniel Ash (guitar) - released their debut album in 1980, at the height of the indie boom. It's clear that Murphy had been aping Bowie with his vocal style, indeed critisicm of the band would be that they were no more than Bowie clones. That's essentially unfair, as this forgotten classic shows. Ash was a good guitarist in his own right, and this is as much his record as it is Murphy's. For 2-3 years Bauhaus (named after the 1930's German art movement) were just about the hippest alternative rock band in the UK. All the trendy 14 year olds at my secondary school were listening to them! Kicking of with "Double Dare", all screeching guitar, Murphy's dramatic vocals and thudding drumwork, leaving the listener in no doubt what to expect for the rest... Read review

Advantages: Funk is also popular in the 90ies, thats what they show us

...First I need to say that I love Funk. Unfortunately Funk had its best time in the 70ies but the Brand new Heavies always show that Funk is popular today as well. With their Smash Hits like "Midnight at the Oasis" , "You are the Universe" or "Never stop" they top the standard chartbreaker bands and show the actuality of Funk nowadays. The melodies are fantastic and after 2 or 3 times of listenig to their songs you can already sing it. In my opinion the "Brand New Heavies" are one of the greatest Funk Bands in the 90ies and it is very important that bands like theirs are supported by all teh funk fans!... Read review
