This is the place where it all began, the revolution that was 'The Beatles' began in 1962 with a rather tame sounding, but musically good 'Love Me Do'. This initial tameness is washed away with what is to follow however. Around one hour of some of the greatest songs ever written, including 'Yesterday', '8 Days A Week', 'Help!', 'Day Tripper', and all the rest. The album is very refreshing, with most of the songs weighing in at under 3 minutes, they are compact and yet sound very rich, sound longer. The Beatles are undisputedly the best band of all time, and this is the first ½ of their musical assault on the world. To hear this is like hearing music develop. The one bizzarre thing about the compilation is that it could have easily all fitted onto one CD, or one tape, so why is it on two? Oh, well, still excellent.
Truly excellent
