I CAN'T GIVE IT UP has admirable lyrics, with Stacie singing about staying true to herself and her values. Stacie sounds beautiful and natural and this is another soulful track with gentle backing music and R&B style beats.
The first time that I listened to the album it was quite a challenge for me to get to the end as this is a very unfamiliar sound for me, being a die-hard fan of cheesy pop. I, to tell the truth, was not that keen on many songs on first listen (although now I have got a feel for them I love this album a lot) and many simply blended in to one. By the end of the album, therefore, I was partly relieved and partly exhausted from my efforts and BEAUTIFULAWAKENING, being quite a gentle, slow track, was dismissed by me as a standard 'last track', ie. nothing special or unique, a bit of a rushed...

Album Notes: For her second secular album, former Christian pop star Stacie Orrico eases into another enjoyable set of catchy R&B/dance-tinged tunes. While most of the high-profile producers and songwriters from Orrico's previous effort are gone, Dallas Austin co-pens "Dream You," a charmingly mellow tune that allows her dynamic voice to glide over percussive loops and a gentle acoustic-guitar line. The song, not surprisingly, turns out to be one of BEAUTIFUL AWAKENING's finest tracks.
Advantages: A couple of stand out tracks Disadvantages: Mostly no more than average
...Back in the summer of 2003 whilst flicking between the various music channels, the sounds of two young female artists caught my ears with the first song I'd heard from either. One was Amy Studt with "Misfit", the other was StacieOrrico and "Stuck". Impressed enough with "Misfit" to try an album, I bought Amy Studt's "False Smiles" and was so disappointed with it, I never gave StacieOrrico's self titled album a thought. Soon after, both seemingly dropped off the musical radar and I forgot about them.
Earlier this year, I heard the first single from Orrico's second album "BeautifulAwakening" and, whilst not terribly impressed, it did remind me of her existence. This is turn made me think of how good "Stuck" had sounded and made me wonder if I hadn't perhaps dismissed her too hastily those years before. After all, the cream does rise...

Advantages: Stacie's amazing voice, some brilliant tracks Disadvantages: Quite a few fillers
...A sixteen year old StacieOrrico first burst on to the music scene with the hit single 'Stuck' in the Summer of 2003. I remember seeing the video on MTV and thinking that with a voice that powerful and a song that brilliant I really should know who this unfamiliar artist was. I even had a conversation whilst on holiday with the girlies when the song came on the TV in a bar one night about how much we loved the song, yet none of us had a clue who this StacieOrrico was.
With the rise of reality TV and the emergence of the TV-to-pop-star transition (think Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Kylie Minogue) it seems that most popstars nowadays have already built up a fan base before they have even released their first single. It therefore says a lot about the talent of an artist and the virtue of a song when the singer can come from nowhere...
