Advantages: Lots of great songs from the eighties Disadvantages: A few not so great
.... The song is more remembered for the high pitched warbling at the start, which sounded nothing like the jungle which it was supposed to. All in all not a bad song, but there are far better ones on here.
Track 17 - Together We Are Beautiful - Fern Kinney
Too slushy and poppy for my liking but I am sure it will appeal to some.
Track 18 - Just An Illusion - Imagination
A bit of a slow, smoochy type number, which twenty plus years ago was great !! However, not quite got the same appeal now.
Track 19 - Jealous Guy - Roxy Music
This was Bryan Ferry's tribute to John Lennon who had been so cruelly murdered the Christmas before. John was an absolute legend and this track does him complete justice.
Track 20 - Only You - Yazoo
Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke never really got the credit for their distinctive electro synthesiser pop...

Advantages: This is a recording containing excellent content, with wonderful sound quality due to top-notch recording technique, and the presence of stellarly talented artists. Disadvantages: It is often disappointing to be listening to a wonderful piece of music only to discover that merely a portion of the piece is contained on the recording.

The conducting, orchestra playing, choral singing and preparation, and soloist singing is almost unmatched. Especially notable is the performance of the Mater Gloriosa, a somewhat thankless role, performed especially beautifully by soprano Jann Jaffe. Of course, anyone who knows the piece cannot help but be drawn to this music. This famous "Symphony of a Thousand" is a masterpiece whose listening...

Advantages: Great performances of popular favourites and some rare gems Disadvantages: Barely none, with perhaps slight issues with sound.
...", the recording of the Gothenburg Symphony under Neeme Järvi is one of the best I have heard (as are the other rhapsodies in the set from which this has been taken from), being rich, sonorous, and jubilant. This is followed by Leroy Anderson's comical "The Typewriter," one of the numerous light pieces that Anderson wrote in his life, and features the tapping of a typewriter to great effect. It's a perfect "pops" lollipop and provides endless hours of fun after drinking a bit of… ummm… happy beveriges.
Johann Sebastian Bach is represented by two pieces. "Jesu bleibet meine Freude" is not exactly that exilarating; it is not far removed from the usual string orchestra arrangement it is often heard in, this performance only adding what sounds like 2-4 trumpets for providing some accents. Of more interest is the legendary conductor Leopold Stokowski...
