Ok my smelly younger brother has given me a list of bands to listen and as you can gather this is one of the bands. For once he is listening to something good at long last and I’ve become hooked on what is a blast and a great injection of talent in an ever growing vast crowd of metal and rock.
One thing to clear up and that is the lead singer... he is quite famous and that can always be a burden to the band but he has done great to stand back and show his merits for being the lead singer.
the actor in question is Jared Leto who starred in Requiem for a dream for all you movie buffs out there and with his acting background of course the band have gone for a very theatrical movie esque feel to all there video's to use Jared's talents as best as possible as well as his vocal talent.
Right the music on this album is fantastic through and through, if you’re a fan of any type of rock from kill switch engage to staind you may be pleasantly surprised with what you find pumping from your speakers.
Opening
with "Attack" a great introduction into what is to come and slips you into the mood for some great tunes with Jared's powerful yet gentle and distinct vocals.
"Beautiful lie" is a fave of mine with lyrics working in harmony with a great steady beat with the guitar really working well. The vocals are soft and don't scream out and with the group singing along in the background gives it an added feel. A good song.
"The Kill" what a song!! My favorite song on the album, very catchy and you'll find yourself singing along whilst getting that foot stomping in time with the beat, Jared’s voice is brilliant and with the guitar and drums taking a slightly quieter back seat to let the lyrics shine through work a treat. It’s about not lying down and standing up after your heart has been crushed and asks what if to his ex after fighting his feels and getting away from the pain.
"was it a dream?" the opening thunder storm grabs your interest to listen on to the song and you don't get disappointed at this tune alone is great and when the chorus kicks in the song really is good just some of the lyrics are obscure.
"the fantasy" straight in with a very deep guitar tune and is very fast loud and pacey but is one of there weaker tracks unfortunately as there is no good consistence and the lyrics are poor this is an average song.
"Savior" song jumps straight in and catches you off guard with a good beat and steady drums and though the vocals aren't as catchy it is still good. The Songs about not bothering to save him as he will do it himself and he doesn't care. Thankfully at just other three minutes long it doesn't get to repitive if it had gone longer. Not a bad addition to the album.
"From yesterday" Once again I like this tune with a good echoed voice that carry's the tune along before hitting into a great chorus and blearing loud with out becoming over bearing and the guitar is a strong addition through out this song which is great.
"The story" a good solo guitar tune carries the song at the beginning and then Jared leads in with a very slow drum that gives a great vibe of some of "Linkin park's" slower songs e.g. "my december" or "Staind" A steady and slow paced song of self reflection which though different to the rest of the songs stands on its on merits and I like it.
"R-evolve" a fairly good song that seems to just drift by without much effort needed to perform and is great for background listening.
"a modern myth" more acoustic and slower then the rest of the album, it's not bad but im not a fan of acoustic guitar regardless of who does it so though not bad I just can't like it. :( A gentle song for saying goodbye.
"the battle of one" the drums start fast and beating heavy, then the guitars jump in and then the high pitch lyrics screech in and the song starts kicking to life with a good strong addictive tune but the identity lacks with this song apart from the great drums sound as the lyrics don't do the song justice to keep it remembered in your mind to go back to over and over again like "the kill" or "yesterday" does.
"Attack (live)" as good as the album version with the crowd getting into the tune as well
The album does have maybe one fault and that is it can feel repetitive in long bursts of listening and some songs are similar if not the lyrics different but only minor to what is a great band! Watch for many more things to come!
My brother now says I owe him a few good bands to listen to and kind of don't think he will be impressed with scooch....sod it, it will have to do he is my brother after all lol :P

A Beautiful Lie, the second studio album from 30 Seconds To Mars, was recorded in five ... more
different countries over a period of three years, in order to accommodate vocalist/guitarist Jared Leto's acting career. Yet the album is anything but disjointed. On...
