Take That first formed back in 1990, they were then active until 1996, Robbie Williams having left the band the previous year. Their last single the first time around was a cover of The Bee Gees track 'How Deep Is Your Love', a single that hit the number one spot and appeared to be their last. This was of course not to be as in late 2005 there was official press conference from the band stating that they would be touring in 2006 complete with all members other than Robbie Williams. The tour was given the name 'The Ultimate Tour 2006' and ran between the months of April and June. In May 2006 the band signed a deal with Polydor Records that was reportedly worth £3 million, and their 'Beautiful World' album was subsequently released on November 27th 2006.
The album begins well with the track 'Reach Out', it was going to be the third single released from
'Beautiful World' in fact, however when 'Rule The World' came about from the film 'Stardust' it took providence. With 'Reach Out' the band begin as they mean to go on, following it swiftly with 'Patience' and always impressing as they progress their way through the 'Beautiful World' album. 'Patience' was the lead single from this album and is one which is extremely powerful, and excellent return for the band and one with which they spent 4 weeks at Number 1, with the single going on to become the 8th best selling single of 2006 in the UK having spent a fantastic ten weeks in the top ten. It would have been the Christmas Number One for 2006 had it not been for Leona Lewis and her 'A Moment Like This' single. Whilst X-Factor is aired on TV we may never see anyone other than the winner of the show take the Christmas Number One spot; I shan't go into this too much but it really is quite a shame for the music business in the UK.
The 'Beautiful World' album consists of eleven tracks and is ever excellent throughout its entirety. As well as the standard eleven, the track 'Butterfly' is also included as a hidden bonus track tagged on the end of final track 'Butterfly', a brilliant extra for the album and one that completes it fantastically. Take That really do excel as a band throughout their 'Beautiful World' album and in my opinion it is the best that they have ever released. As well as the excellent 'Patience', the hit single 'Shine' is also present on this album and provides for another of its stand out moments. It has an epic chorus and the vocals of Mark Owen come booming through. I actually probably prefer this one to lead single 'Patience' as I feel that the track possesses a great quality in which every time it is listened to it seems to improve and thus becomes greater and greater an anthem. Mark Owen is a fantastically talented vocalist and is as vital member as any in the band Take That.
With each and every track the band have got it spot on in terms of choruses, and the album actually contains tracks in which all four of the bands members are given the role of lead vocals here. Jason Orange has a mere one however, and Howard has only two; Gary Barlow on the other hand has six including bonus track 'Butterfly', whilst Mark Owen is left with three. I feel that of the four of them, the tracks that have come out best here are probably those led by Mark Owen. I have never been much of a fan of Gary Barlow, and in my opinion it is certainly the vocals of Mark Owen that shine through in this album. That said; Jason Orange's 'Wooden Boat' works brilliantly well at the end of the album and both of those sung by Howard Donald are well worth listening to.
'Beautiful World' was a brilliant return from Take That, an album I am a great fan of and one that I listen to an awful lot. I wouldn't say that the music of Take That is the usual sort of thing that I would go for, however there is just something about this album which make it excellent to listen to, and almost impossible to stop listening to in fact. At no stage do the band ever to fail to impress and their 'Beautiful World' album is therefore one which I cannot recommend highly enough. It cries out to be heard by all and whatever your taste in music I thoroughly suggest that you give the band a go here as I am sure that you will not be disappointed.
