When Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange first burst onto the pop scene in 1990, I was just 9, and completely smitten with Take That!! I was obsessed with Gary Barlow and spent many a day dancing round my bedroom to hits such as Pray, Relight my fire and Back for Good. So I was upset when in 1996 they announced they were going to split up. 10 years passed, solo careers went wrong, people grew up, then all of a sudden Take That were back!! (minus Robbie).
They released Never Forget in 2005, a greatest hits album, and then announced that they would tour again. The Ultimate Tour took place in 2006. I went to see them at the Milton Keynes Bowl in June 2006 and it was amazing!
Then, in November 2006 a new album was released in the UK, called Beautiful World. It got to number one in the UK in December 2006 and went 3 times platinum selling over 3 million copies in the UK alone. In 2007 the track "Patience" won best british single at the Brit awards and the following year "Shine" won the same award. Take That are back.
The track listing is as follows- 1. Reach Out (released as single June 2007) 2.Patience (released as single Nov 2006) 3. Beautiful World 4. Hold On 5. Like I never loved you at all 6. Shine (released as single Feb 2007) 7.I'd wait for life (released as single June 2007) 8. Ain't no sense in love 9. What you believe in 10. Mancunian Way 11. Wooden Boat 12. Butterfly (hidden track)
Special edition CD released later included- 13. Beautiful morning 14. We all fall down 15. Rule the world (released as single Oct 2007) Bonus DVD 1. Patience video 2. Shine video 3. I'd wait for life video 4. Rule the world video 5. Interview
The album provides a mix of everything that would would expect from a Take That album with both ballads and uptempo songs. The great thing about this album is also that all of the four boys get to sing lead on some songs. Mark Owen sings 3, Howard Donald sings 2, Jason Orange sings 1, with Gary Barlow taking the lead on the rest.
Some of my favourites on the album include Shine, sung by Mark Owen, It is a fun uptempo song which perfectly brought Take That up to date. Wooden Boat is a wonderful accostic song, with the lead sung by Jason Orange. It is such a lovely song, and after seeing this live last year at their Beautiful World tour it has become my favourite. Patience is a classic Gary Barlow lead Take That song. It was the song that catapulted them back into the charts. Mancunian Way is a fantastic upbeat song, lead by Howard, it includes a really cute bit at the end sing by Howards daughter Grace- so cute! Rule the World is another favourite. It was the theme song to the movie stardust and became a massive hit for them, and was also the reason tha the released a special edition of the album.
All in all, a fantastic album! As a Take That fan of course I am going to love it. If you were a fan back in the 90's and are worried that the boys won't be able to bring it up to date, and recreate what they did back then they can and they have. I just can't wait for the next album to come out at the end of this year!!

Advantages: All of the tracks present shine through as excellent with a brilliant chorus always present. Disadvantages: Gary Barlow is given the lead vocals far too often.
