...Sod the Sex Pistols, don't get me wrong even though they could not play for toffee they still were a great band. This review is on the Clash though so they don't bare comparison, but then again noone really does. When talking about punk most people think of the Sex Pistols as the the group that personified the era. I am telling you now that this is wrong, noone could compare to the passion, the energy and the rage that the Clash produced in both their albums and live performances. I will now take the time to try and convince you that the Clash were by far the best band in what was a pivotal era in the history of music.

Advantages: A complete tour around the world of The Clash Disadvantages: They included one or two naff singles
...existences. Angry, pessimistic and anti-establishment, these bands were despised by the older generation and feared by heads of State. Loved, worshipped and adored by the youth, it was to be obvious that Punk, as we saw it, was to be short lived. The young grow up, and in a matter of only five, or so years, it was all over.
The Clash adapted their Punk sound to fit each generation. Those who jumped wildly to the riffs of 'White Riot' and 'I Fought The Law,' were preceded by those of my generation who sang, out of tune and loudly to 'Rock The Casbah,' and 'Should I Stay Or Should I go,' Both groups of listeners heard two totally different sounds from the same band. For the youth of then, they created an anthem for all; Punks, Rockers and Pop freaks alike.

18.The Sound of Sinners - the Clash do Gospel. Strange as that may sound, this witty track is actually listenable to for the sheer humour and sarcasm of the whole thing, topped off by the lyrics, on the subject of believing in Jesus "I took so many drugs (judgement Day) I thought I was him)

1.Police on My Back - a cover of the Equals reggae track turned into a straightforward rock masterpiece my Mick Jones and his ripper of a guitar riff. The lyrics follow breaking the law, but really fall second place to the guitar riff, although Jones lyrical delivery is brilliant.
