Not du Pré, But Still Cause For Celebration!

Advantages: Highly burnished, engaging, musically intelligent and emotionally mature playing; beautiful tone is never saccharine.
Disadvantages: Nil.

's instrument is front and centre throughout. It's a rather lean composition, with only strings and winds keeping the cello company on occasion, and brass accents bursting forth in a few, select spots. THE MINIATURES Even the smaller pieces receive more than mere perfunctory playing from Ms Clein. Originally written for other instruments by Elgar, these miniatures were arranged for the cello by Julian Milone. Ms Clein's engaging style brings a nice contrast between the skipping staccato notes and smooth, flowing legato ones on 'La Capriceuse'. The lovely 'In Moonlight' and 'Romance, Opus 68' evoke an air of joy tinged with melancholia. On the other hand, a whimsical frothiness is offered in 'Salut d'Amour' and 'Chanson de Matin'. Things are brought to a poignant close with the deep sighs of 'Sospiri'. FINAL THOUGHTS Ms Clein, ably ...

Review of Elgar: Cello Concerto; Arrangements for Cello and Orchestra

The Collection of Sonata Arctica!

Advantages: Okay selection of songs
Disadvantages: re-make of several songs not that good

Sonata Arctica is a power metal band hailing from Finland. In one decade, they have managed to produce 4 albums (up to 2006), 2 compilations and a DVD. In 2005, they also released a compilation called The End of this Chapter, then a year later, they release this CD. Why, I wonder. Perhaps the songs on the previous compilation wasn't enough to satisfy the fans so they made another one, or distro label wanted to line their pockets further. This CD compromises of songs from all the albums pre-2006. There are two songs that have been re-made but all other songs remain untouched; it is for this reason why it isn't suitable for big fans of Sonata Arctica, they may have already got other albums that contains these songs anyway. The track list are as follows; 01. The Ruins Of My Life 02. 8th Commandment 03. Don't Say A Word 04. Victoria ...

Chopin's Dream - Eternal Sonata PS3

Advantages: Easy to learn, helpful in game tutorial, and various endings
Disadvantages: No PS3 trophies, Limited multiplayer. Expensive game compared to Xbox 360 prices.

Eternal Sonata PS3 I finally got my hands on a copy of this game. Even though it was released on Xbox 360 back in 2007 before PS3's release which was the beginning of 2009. Found it to be a colourful world between reality and fantasy and based around the famous composer Frederic Chopin just before he dies from Tuberculosis at the age of 39, even though Chopin looks about 18 in the game to be honest. Its very child like game with no scenes of blood or swearing. Has an easy tutorial section at the beginning of the game so you can learn what functions to use and how easy to use with the joypad. You get to meet various people and how they play apart in Chopins dream world and become apart of his companies in his dreamworld. Introduction The last dying days of Frederic Chopin the famous composer who is dying from ...
