...THIS ALBUM,LIKE ALL ELVIS'S ALBUMS IS TOTAL GARBAGE!. JUST WHAT DO PEOPLE SEE IN HIM... HE WAS NOTHING BUT A FAT JUNKIE,SPOILT FROM CHILDHOOD...WITH A RUDDY EIDIPUS COMPLEX AND A TEMPER TO WHIT. ELVIS COULD NEITHER SING NOR ACT AND THIS ALBUM...WHICH HAPPENS TO BE IN OUR HOUSE-HOLD IS GOING STRAIGHT INTO THE BIN. IF ELVIS CAN SING OR ACT THEN I'M AN ATHEIST!. ALL THE TRACKS...SOUND THE SAME...OR ARE AT LEAST OF THE SAME GENRE.. AND THAT WHINING IRRITIABLE DRONE...COMPARES ONLY WITH HIS DEATH CRIES. Advantages: Elvis and Gospel work so well together
Disadvantages: Hmmmmmmmmm, can't really think of any right now

...I have alwasy loved the poignant raw emotion in Elvis's songs and I think that is never better displayed than when he does gospel. Perhaps it is more moving becuase we all know of how Elvis descended into drug, alcohol and goodness knows what dependency in his later years, and you can't help but wonder what would have become of him had he managed to stay true to his godfearing upbringing. He certainly sings like he means it on all of these songs, there is no lack of sincerity, there is a heartfelt wistfulness on many that is unsurpassed, even if the production now seems a bit dated at times - but on the other hand, that also adds to it's appeal. There are a mixed bag here, some songs I had never heard before, some I knew well. To be honest, it was worth buying the album just for "You'll Never Walk Alone". As a Scouser I have grown... ...Elvis Presley was born in 1935 in Memphis, he was known as "The King", and he was and still is one of the biggest stars of the twentieth century. "Heartbreak Hotel", was his first number one single, followed by three more number ones, before he made his first film "Love Me Tender" from which the title song of the same name gave him his fifth number one. He had a hit with "Teddy Bear" from his second film "Loving You", followed by "Jailhouse Rock", which was taken from his third and best ever movie "Jailhouse Rock" I have seen all of Elvis's movies, but I recken that Jailhouse Rock was the best one.
