Advantages: Masterpiece of musical theatre Disadvantages: Ending is little too "all lived happily ever after"
...The Threepenny Opera transforms opera to the musical theatre. Originally adapted from John Gay’s The Beggar’sopera in 1928, to Die Dreigroschenoper, by German composer Kurt Weill and lyricist Bertolt Brecht, the score weaves together elements of grand opera with cabaret and jazz. The English translation and adaptation was then completed by Marc Blitzstein in 1954.
Brecht met Weill in 1927, when the two men discussed using the genre of opera to combine their respective abilities. Their first collaboration was the songspiel, The Little Mahagonny performed during 1927. The two men soon then started work on a full-scale opera. Brecht took on the script of the BeggarsOpera for Weill to write the modern melodies and Brecht added several new scenes and songs.
A CD of the Threepenny Operacan be purchased for £12.99 from most good music...

30 Years and Counting Review ofNight At The Opera, A (Remastered/+DVD) [Digipak] - Queenby
chrislake
Advantages: Classic Queen, Great Songs, Great Content Disadvantages: It could be more original I suppose.
...When I first heard about the release of Queen A Night at the Opera 30th edition I was very excited because the original was, and remains to be, my favourite album.
The album as been 'digitally remastered' and in the sleeve note, Brian May assures us that the album could not be 'bettered'.
Although I'm not falling for that because it could be bettered.
How about including demos, songs that didn't make it into the original record...maybe that could better it.
But it is fair to say that it is a good record, the album starts with the calm Piano scales of 'Death on two legs' then this piano melody becomes more scary as it builds up and the song begins. Right from this moment until God Save the Queen the listener is hypnotised by the incredible album and the amazing songs.
Many of the tracks flow into each other, for example, Death on Two...

Advantages: An Good solid Rock/Blues album Disadvantages: none
...Let it Bleed could be considered as argueabley one of the rolling stones best albums.
It sits alongside Beggars banquet and Exile on main street as one of the best records the stones have created.
Instant classic tracks include Let it bleed, You cant always get what you want and Gimmie Shelter, all of which have been used in numerous tv programs and blockbuster films over the past 20-30 years.
The rest of the tracks are good solid Rock/Blues tunes which will keep any fan of the genre happy for a long time.
It is very difficult to fault this album as it contains so many great high quality songs. In fact the only issue i have with this cd is the fact that the track listing on the back of the case is not in the order in which the tracks appear on the cd. However i am nit picking now.
If you are a rock and roll fan this album is almost...
