Beginner's Guide To Arabian Lounge - Various Artists

Advantages: a varied mix of different styles, times, countries

...This is a really good introduction into arabic music. CD1 has classical singers such as the egyptian Farid El Atrache (when I hear this song I always think of Samia Gamal dancing) and lebanese Sabah (who is still going on today and only last year released a couple of pop songs with Rola a young pop singer). My favourite is CD2 which contains very famous pop singers such as Nancy Ashram (I defy anybody to sit still through Ahasmak Ah!) , Elissa (lebanon) and Amr Diab. Amr Diab is probably the most famous singer,he is from egypt and across the arab world he has outsold Michael Jackson and Madonna to name but a few....very good to dance to. CD 3 is laid back arabic lounge...just kick back and enjoy the shisha! This is a good taster CD as I feel it has something for everybody and is very danceable.... Read review

...Brill album, much better than the first Radio one live lounge album. All tracks have been previously played on the radio one live lounge with Joe Willie, but I never get a chance to listen to them all first time they are on the radio, so its nice to hear them all. Some tracks really funny and are all by well-known artist's. The artists and bands either record alternative recordings of there own songs or ones by other artists, which is really interesting. I really love the Amy winehouse - Valerie its a slower version and is really good. It features allot of the top 40 bands and gives you a chance of hearing unusual tracks that you would not normally hear from such band albums. Highly Recommended.... Read review

...the live lounge CD from radio 1 is formed my covers from other artists found on the jo whiley show. The CD shows the raw talent of some of the uk's new and upcoming artists. This CD also shows songs done in different ways, an intresting change to the songs you enjoy to listen to, and also making you love a song that before you could not stand to listen to. This CD contains 2 CD's so is full of tracks, 40 overall. the songs are done by jo whiley having bands on her show where they preform a version of there current single and then a cover. all done live. Some of the tracks on this album are an instant hit, but some can wreck your love for certain songs. a must buy, a new change for music.... Read review
