Let's get this straight right from the off - me and Mrs dave27 despise Hugh Grant and all his works and have no time whatsoever for him. We approached Mickey Blue Eyes with a fair amount of trepidation therefore and weren't expecting to be impressed.
We couldn't believe it when we actually found ourselves laughing out loud at this pretty enjoyable film. Grant comes over as standard Hugh Grant, stereotypically English, but is really quite amusing (ooh, that's a bit strong!) in this film in the role of an English auctioneer in new York City who falls in love with a mobster's daughter.
There are some great support performances too from James Caan as yer typical gangster and Edward Fox as Grant's boss, with Jeanne Tripplehorne providing the romantic interest.
It's actually very reminiscent of Analyze This starring Bob De Niro ...

She may be in the tabloids day in day out for things she is getting up to in her personal life but you have to give credit where it is due she is also in the papers a lot because she is good at what she does in her professional life and her album Back to Black represents this.
Amy Winehouse was born on the 14th September 1983 in London. Her musical talents were recognised when a demo tape landed in the hands of record label "Island" who instantly signed her up

Advantages: New fantastic female british RnB artist Disadvantages: None
a keen and very talented guitar player and the hidden track “Cherry” really expresses her feelings about her guitar, in a rather comical way! I really like Amy’s vocals on this song she really hits some fantastic high notes, which merge with the fantastic chords of the guitar. “Cherry” is a mid tempo song, with almost a reggae style beat, but the guitar chords and vocals scream out Jazz. Amy explains how close he becomes to “Cherry” and how “she plays along as I sing out my blues” This track really makes you sway along to the beat and when you close your eyes you can really hear the fantastic mixture of piano and guitar.
“Know you now” is slightly more up tempo than the predecessor, and it includes a very catchy hook. The harmonised backing vocals really stand out ...

Personnel includes: Amy Grant (vocals, acoustic guitar); Wayne Kirkpatrick (acoustic guitar, hammered dulcimer, background vocals); Jerry McPherson (acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards); Keith Thomas (acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards, programming); William Owsley (acoustic & electric guitars, background vocals); Gordon Kennedy (acoustic & electric guitars); Dan Huff, Kenny Greenberg (electric guitar); Greg Leisz (pedal steel guitar); Jerry Douglas (dobro); Sam Levine (flute); Tim Lauer (accordion, Wurlitzer piano, melodica); Phil Madeira (accordion, Hammond B-3 organ); Larry Klein (bass, fretless bass); Spencer Campbell, Byron House (bass); Mark Hammond (Hammond B-3 organ, drums, programming); Chad Cromwell, Dann Needham (drums). Recorded at The Bennet House, and Secret Sound, Franklin, Tennessee; at The October Studio, Nashville, Tennessee. Amy Grant makes a u-turn on BEHIND THE EYES. She abandons the glossy production and synthesized sound of her last two albums in favor of a rougher, more acoustic texture and more honest and personal songs. The result is an easy mixture of accessible adult pop and down-to-earth folk-rock which dwells both on broad spirituality and human relationships. This album is likely to please Grant's more recent fans just as it delights her older ones, who remember her acoustic and Christian-rock roots. Despite the often palpable sadness on BEHIND THE EYES, Grant retains her endless buoyant optimism and faith. On "Somewhere Down the Road," she sings with typical shimmering assurance "Though we cannot see it now/Somewhere down the road/You will find mighty arms reaching for you/And they will hold the answers at the end of the road."
