Please excuse some of my older reviews, they have little substance to them. In fact, they are quite pathetic. But I can't seem to delete them. Ah well.

First came the exceptional Pablo Honey, taking the music industry by storm. Now comes this masterpiece, a landmark in musical history. The Bends, without any doubt in my mind, is the greatest album ever made.
Radiohead began in Oxford around ten years ago. Since then they have fast become one of the biggest bands on the alternative music scene, largely because of Thom Yorke's unusual vocal talent and style of music.
After listening to Pablo Honey, their debut album, I fast became a big Radiohead fan. However, this album is even better. The order of the tracks is perfect, culminating with the wonderful "Street Spirit".
What I will say is don't just go on first impressions. The first time I listened to The Bends I thought it was a letdown. However, it was only after I had got to know the album well that I realized what a classic it actually is.
The great thing about this album is that every track is different, yet there are no songs that seem like they have been put there just to fill the gaps, as there are on so many other albums that I won't mention.
Thom Yorke's vocal abilities are remarkable, and the band's sound is completely unique. Radiohead had not only managed to put together two fantastic albums at this point, they had also invented their own style of music.
The album offers several various different types of music, from mellow tracks like "bullet proof" to fairly heavy tracks such as "the bends".
Many people have labelled this, and other Radiohead albums "depressive". I, on the other hand, find this style of music is just about the only one that can actually cheer me up, although I don't have to be in any particular mood to enjoy it.
If you have heard Radiohead music and like it, another band I would strongly suggest you listen to, if you haven't already, is Muse. With a remarkably similar style and similar vocals, their albums almost becomes a substitute for Radiohead themselves.
If you have never bought a Radiohead album, I strongly recommend this be your first. Once you have heard it, you will never look back.

Advantages: Fine gossomer touches allied to acute lyrics with firework explosions of guitar Disadvantages: Unfairly overshadowed now maybe by later releases
Advantages: Some Fantastic Tracks, no weak ones at all. As close to a flawless album I think I have heard Disadvantages: None, unless you dont like Radiohead
