...In an instant I fell in love with this album. My first Blind Melon experience (like everyone) was the upbeat No Rain. This barely scratches the surface of what this band has to offer. I've actually yet to hear any of the first album aside from that song. As for this album, it's quite a rush. The vocals are simply genuine, Shannon Hoon is just so Shannon Hoon. I can think of no other way to put it. If you don't like his singing style on No Rain you may as well avoid this album because his voice is probably the main feature. This takes nothing away from the music itself though. Now, I'm no expert when it comes to guitar music so I won't be technical in any way, because in this sense I'm just the average fan. The melodies are beautiful though, and the change of course that each song undergoes keeps this album fresh the whole way...

...This is a beautiful album by Australian Idol runner up Shannon Noll. It stormed the Aussie charts and went straight to the top spot. This is his debut album, but he certainly does not sound like an amateur. Indeed, he even co wrote one of the songs, though he had no previous experience.
Perhaps the most memorable song on the album was his debut hit 'Learn to fly', released shortly after the end of the hit tv show which launched him to fame. There is also a beautiful cover of 'What about me', superbly sung and very touching. Noll's voice has a beautiful smoothness to it, and occassionally he adds a more gruff quality to it, not unlike that of Bryan Adams, one of Noll's inspiratipons when it comes to performing. The album is a combination of the rock/pop genre.
The album is available as an import from Australia on Amazon for around 13...

...Did you know that when Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band got bored with the military uniforms, they just re-christened themselves Eddy and the Falcons, changed into drainpipe jackets and rearranged their quiffs instead? Not only that, but they invited some mighty illustrious guests, including Elvis, Gene Vincent, Del Shannon, Neil Sedaka and Duane Eddy, to appear on their album. Did you know I was talking nonsense? Well, yes - now here comes the serious bit. This was Roy Wood & Wizzard's rock'n'roll concept album (of sorts). As usual Roy wrote all the songs, in late 50s style this time, and copied their vocal and instrumental styles to a tee. The results are exceptional; the instrumental "Eddy's Rock" out-Duanes the King of Twang, and "Everyday I Wonder" captures the essence of "Runaway" in every manner you can think of...
