This was a record label collection (the best of theGreen Linnetyears) and it is just that from Frankie Kennedy's slow reel, "The Sunset," through the jigs, reels and airs that they play so well. Mairead Ni Mhaoinaigh on fiddle also supplies their trademark voice, Ciaran Tourish and Paul O'Shaughnessy are on fiddles as well, Frankie Kennedy is on flute plus various instruments by Ciaran Curran, Mark Kelly and Daithi Sproule. As a bonus there is a second CD, a live recording taken from the soundboard of a 1989 concert.--Louis Gibson

Advantages: Good music which shows Stevie Wonder?s different styles. Disadvantages: Differences of opinion about greatest hits.
When reviewing an album with ?greatest hits? in the title, by an artist who has used a variety of music styles in his long career, there is bound to be controversy about which tracks should be there. I don?t want to haggle about Stevie Wonder?s best tracks, so far, as I probably wouldn?t end up pleasing many of his fans, if any. (Some critics seem to think that if a song is commercially good, it probably isn?t musically good.) Instead, I want to tell you about the tracks on this album and let you decide whether it is worth buying.
One thing I am sure about is that there is no rubbish on this album. The tracks, to me, are either good or brilliant, therefore, I give the album 5 stars.
A wide range of music influenced Stevie as he grew up including Gospel, Jazz, Reggae, and Motown. All of these influences can be heard on ?A Song ...
of tempo to a sad song then back into a cheerful reel or jig
The last track 13 Aingeal An Oilreain, Angel Island the title track this is a gentle wistful air no vocals to finish the CD.
I really like this CD if you like Irish music it is defiantly worth finding and listening to this. Listening to it makes me feel I really must go and listen to some live music this half term I think Altan are playing in Camden town on the 29th October I think I shall have to check that out.
Thanks for reading Mary ...
Advantages: Great mix of artists and well known tunes Disadvantages: Maybe needed more female artists, popular r'n'b stars
2 Disc Set, with 40 tracks so you can't really go wrong here. It's kind of a mix of the old and the new love songs, but still some timeless tracks from artists like Mary Mary, Aliyah, 2Pac, Anita baker, Toni Braxton and others. The kinds of songs everyone knows. Some lovers tunes and some more faster paced. With Lemar, Wayne Wonder, Akon, Ashanti, Mya, India Arie, as well known young stars of now. But it would have been nice to have seen some younger and newer R'n'B stars that are playing in the clubs at the moment and also maybe a bigger selection of female vocalists like Khelis, Brandy, Ne-Yo, Omarion and others. Still the tracks are a good mix with tunes like My Boo, Usher and Alicia Keys, Satisfaction, Eve, Cry me a River, Justin Timberlake, Sweet Love, Anita Baker, On and On Eryka Badu and lots more. ...
