...This album is brilliant.
I thought I'd start this review by saying that before I went into further talks on what it contains, because quite simply I love it. I'll do my best to avoid a fan bias, but I can assure you that when I first saw & heard these guys I was as unsure as you might be. I'm not one to go for fads or get interested in a band for their gimmicks-so I was delighted to discover this band have more to like than their gimmicks. In fact, they have no gimmicks at all, their slightly offbeat ways have merely been defined so by the mainstream industry.
You may be confused about what I mean. Well if you ever see pictures or footage of this band performing, then you'll understand. Dressed in WW1 military attire, this band dominate the stage with more than just a defiant presence, but assorted foliage and stuffed birds too...

Advantages: It has every Maiden classic you can think of! Disadvantages: A few tracks which really shouldn't be on there.
...suspiciously similar to music found in the computer game Final Fantasy 7!
The Trooper: Perhaps the greatest ever Maiden track, and certainly my favourite. More epic than a chapter from Lord Of The Rings, and as much twin guitar you can shake a stick at. Tells the tale of the charge of the light brigade, from one British soliders point of view.
The Number Of The Beast: A classic that has stayed with many fans as long as they've followed Maiden. This track is certain to get your grandmothers nickers in a twist when she hears Bruce Dickinson scream out "666, The number of the beast!" A track you simply cannot afford to leave out of a compilation.
Revelations (Live): A simply superb mix of classic heavy metal, and soft, smooth slow verses. Truely a fantastic live song, with punching guitar riffs, and epic melodies.
