It starts with Chuck introducing it, and you can actually hear the audience scream and cheer- which tells you already it’s going to be a pretty special piece. ...Hey Ciao!! For those of you who may have read some of my earlier reviews, I did a review on the artist Chuck Mangione, and one of his albums. I was recently introduced to his most recent album (well, I say recent, it was released in 2000!), and it’s called Everything For Love, and I think it’s named in reference to one of the album tracks, I Do Everything For Love. The concept of the album is really nice, or as Chuck said in the front cover, ‘ having been blessed with lots of love in my life, it should come as no surprise that this CD is filled with compositions of mine that are love songs’. It’s recommended retail price is £13.99, but we got it off Amazon.co.uk for around 8 pounds. I think nowadays people rarely play the RRP for CDs! ...One thing about chuck berry, although he is a great guitarist and one who has pushed back the boundaries of guitar playing (particularly with the double stop) he is a bit repetitive. He has struck upon a formula and he really milks it – but then again that is blues music!! Johnny b goode does of course stand head and shoulders above the rest but they are all very simialr. Songs like ‘no particular place to go’ do rescue us from boredom but then later we find that such a song is copied as well later on (school day). It is a shame because the album is good, but should not be listened to all the way thru.... Read review
