Album Notes: Comprised of material taken from Dave Edmunds' stint on Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label, BEST OF DAVE EDMUNDS is a solid representation of an artist who managed to balance a love of '50s and '60s rock & roll with a perfectly hewn contemporary pop sensibility. Blessed with a twangy guitar and a soulful croon, Edmund here covers infectious-sounding material by friends like Graham Parker (\"Crawling From the Wreckage\"), Elvis Costello (\"Girls Talk\"), and Nick Lowe (\"I Knew the Bride\"). More than anything, Edmunds channels the carefree teenage spirit of rockabilly and vintage country, whether on songs that deal with leaving the work week behind (\"Here Comes The Weekend,\" \"Almost Saturday Night\") or on tracks about fast cars by way of George Jones (\"The Race Is On,\" with the Stray Cats).

Advantages: Plenty of good pop/dance numbers and one classic Disadvantages: One or two dull ones
...You" was always a rather uninteresting song and she can't really do much for it, but we're all allowed the odd lapse.
But in my opinion, the real 22-carat corker on this collection is her 1985 Top 20 hit, "Rage To Love", a superb rockabilly tune which, her vocals apart, sounds like the Stray Cats. It was remixed by none ther than the mighty DaveEdmunds - now, a Kim album with Dave producing, there's a thought!...

Advantages: Most of the songs are vintage Quo Disadvantages: Poor production and tame sound
...Status Quo had disbanded indefinitely in 1984, notwithstanding a brief reunion for Live Aid the following year. Record company indifference to their solo projects was as responsible as anything else for their reforming the group in 1986, albeit with a new bassist and drummer. "In The Army Now", the first album by the 'new' group, was a disappointment. While the songs were by and large up to scratch, in other words typical Quo but with one or two surprises along the way, the sound wasn't. DaveEdmunds produced the tracks released as the first two singles, "Rollin' Home" and "Red Sky" (which Dave Lee Travis once introduced on Radio 1 as 'ZZ Quo!'), and Pip Williams the rest, but between them they gave the group a tinny, over-santized sound which compares badly with the no-frills, no messing around sound of their best 70s work...

So you can see there are some good tracks in that lot, yes there a few that I don't like but that is nearly always the case with a compilation CD.
Although the 80s are more my era I still remember some of these tracks from the above CD and the ones I didn't remember I have soon got to know and like.
My favourite track from the whole CD is Blondie and Sunday Girl as it brings back fond memories from nights at our local...
