...I have to admit I found Johnny Winter totally by chance. I was in a record shop and saw a CD in a round, metal case. "Johnny Winter? The Texas Tornado? I'll buy that!" So I did. What I found was a musician, Johnny Winter, who is a hard rocking bluesman of consummate skill. Johnny Winter is such a accomplished bluesman that I have to admit that it came as something of a shock to discover that Johnny Winter is a white Texan. Though he reveals that he hung out in the black part of his hometown in Texas, such was his fever for the blues. And, Winter maintains that it was his sincerity about his passion for the blues that meant that he was safe there. Even though Beaumont had not long before suffered form some terrible racially-inspired riots. Winter's blue's sound as if they were recorded in the 1940s or 1950s. Actually, I was surprised... ...Johnny, johnny,johnny what and unbelievabe album for his new debut, best new band of last year at the nme's and after a couple of listens you can see why. This fast flammed album is definitely a grower the more and more you listen, the more the artistic developtment is shown. Best songs on the album girl with the golden touch, rip it up, and personal favourite somewhere else. Worst song to the sea seems pointless. Nice indie rock sound, johnny's voice very mesmorizing. Good live entertainers. Target audience is any age, not to heavy not to soft, reaches a good equilibrieum. Which way out is clearly written from experience, which is nice to see in the lyrics. Brilliant album from some cool fun guys. Give it a listen... Read review

...of country gospel, and that listening to it with an open ear just might make you understand something about love. “I Never picked Cotton” is more of a statement of intent than a song, rebellion, betrayal and redemption are classic elements of country music and here it is for you in its full glory. The last two songs “Unchained” is a superb piece of gospel, if the music was this good in our churches then more people would go, and “I’ve Been Everywhere” finish off this album but I have grown weary of writing as the codeine is wearing off so I will leave you in one paragraphs time. This Album won the Grammy for best country album in 1997, and started off a relationship between Johnny Cash and Rick Rubin.
